There is one in world 2 where you have to jump off an enemy and use the propeller to reach a pipe.  I must have died 5 times trying to make that jump and I said 'fuckit' and turned off the Wii.

Ok, I didn't realize you could play with nunchuck.  Controls are 100x better now.

Also 480i is the way to go it seems.  It's more blurry but the blurriness hides the horrible jaggies when it's sharp and the soft look isn't too bad for Mario.

How do you tilt the platforms with the nunchuck btw?

You still use the remote and tilt that left or right.  Up on the remote still lifts and hops.  But I just find it far more comfortable to play with the nunchuck.

Wiimote + Nunchuck is honestly the most comfortable gaming controller ever.  It's only problem is lack of buttons which means it doesn't work for certain games.  But when it does work it feels great and I love it.

The more I play the more I think this is pretty good.  I think it has LOTS and LOTS of flaws for a 2d/2.5d Mario, but it has good and challenging level design that does a great job at ripping off older Mario without feeling like a rehash.

My biggest complaint is the idea of kicking you out of a level every time you die even if you have a checkpoint.  The process of watching the kicked out animation, waking up, hitting A, getting back, and being back to playing takes like 10 seconds or slightly more.  If you're going for the hidden coins/exits where you are going to die a lot this basically makes the game feel like it has a 10 sec loading time after every death which is completely distinguished mentally-challenged for a 2.5d platformer.

I also am just not a big fan of the physics and floatyness.  I'm getting used to it, but I still slide around a bit more than I'd like.  Also the controls are very senstive so you can sometimes accidently duck (this won't be an issue if you're using the d-pad) and go into a slide when you really really don't want to and you can sometimes accidently lift the remote a bit in a chaotic moment and then you'll do a jump spin suddenly out of nowhere which can be very bad.

The power ups and levels and animation are nice.  The turn over mini-game is not as good as the SMB one.

It's the same, although you can do a quick save that deletes itself once you reload the file.  I'm personally peeved the lives don't reset after turning the game off. : (

It sucks ass.  You can only save for real after beating a castle, but you can suspend the game at any time.

It's alright. A sturdy 7 so far.
I remember having more fun with the DS version.

There's absolutely no way the DS version is better than this, you're crazy.  Game's an mid 8-ish, often floating into 9, mid 9-ish range.

Yeah it is and that's a great thing.  Just wish it didn't kick you out of the stage because you actually die a lot in this game!
So far I'd give it an 8, but I'm not that far.  I remember liking the DS version better, but again, I'm not that far.

It's definitely not on the level of Galaxy.

Shit starts getting increasingly difficult around midway through the second world.  I died 11 times at 2-4  :'(

I mean think about it. Archie plays Rock BAnd games - casual

Bebpo plays JRPGs - no motor skills

BrandNew plays nintendo games - casual

I think they are playing up the difficulty, tbh.

I play all kinds of games, I just don't like being overburdened with information and customization.  Fallout 3's about the level of customization that I can handle, anything further is just too complicated for me.

You know, people don't think you're that cool if you're good at videogames demi.

Miyamoto joked that he feels a bit of shame whenever the Super Guide block shows up in a level since it only appears when the player fails a certain amount of time. There will be a special icon awarded on the title screen to any player who beats New Super Mario Bros. Wii without revealing a single Super Guide block.

The game is definitely more fun when you play it with someone else. I did a few runs with my nephew and we had a lot of fun.

When you play the game alone = a 7 score
When you play it with someone else = an 8,5 score

PLaying alone is really a bore. I definitely liked the DS game more than this one.

I play action games like NG/DMC and platformers like Maximo and ME!  Action/Platform/RPG is mainly what I play and I think I'm pretty decent at all 3 genre.  Now FPS...lol, I'm awful and get frustrated on normal difficulty on a lot of these FPS; also I have no idea how to play RTS, Strategy games, or Sports games.

NSMB Wii isn't hard like "I want to pass the level" hard at least so far, but if you go for the gold coins they're already getting to the point of "how the fuck do I get that?!" and it's more about figuring out the solution + perfect execution than pure difficulty.

Chill out man. The game just isn't that good. An 8 max.
I've been a huge nfag during the NES and SNES days. And this game really isn't doing shit for me.
Maybe it's the controls, maybe the artstyle, maybe it's the animation...I really don't know. The game just isn't that good.
If this was a no-name flashgame, people like you wouldn't give a shit.

It'll sell well, that's for sure.

i'm sorry for the dumb question but is anyone here able to run the game trough the disc channel without any of those homebrew installed loader?

I can run it through the homebrew channel via neogamma 7. But I totally forgot I also had an ancient Wiichip installed. The combo of homebrew and ancient chip are doing miracles for me..

I disagree.  The overworld theme isn't all that great, as usual, but the athletic theme, castle theme, underwater themes have all been great.

Use the nunchuck + remote combo.  It's slightly less accurate because it's analogue instead of d-pad, but it's far more comfortable.

I hope this game outsells MW2 sooo badly!  it deserves it.  Unlike Call of Generic Bald Land Marine, Mario is actually cool and unique.  Reggie threw down the gauntlet and while he may not be right about the first few months, the COD series is sooooo frontloaded and it doesn't have the country of Nippon backing it--it's that crucial Japanese support that will launch Mario ahead in the long run because the Japanese know a good game when they see it.  I'll stand by and support my man Reggie while everyone has a COD circle jerk for the next 2 months before they get bored of it because it's just another dumb FPS.  Maybe if they had some taste, they'd appreciate a good 2D platformer with a whimsical style.  It's because of jerks like them that the 2D platformer is dying, but Nintendo understands the needs of the gamer and aren't all about money and business and stuff so they make them anyway.

It's because of jerks like them that the 2D platformer is dying, but Nintendo understands the needs of the gamer and aren't all about money and business and stuff so they make them anyway.

whatever, it's not even about the games, it's about PR guys.  I'd rather see Reggie win instead of that jerk Bobby Kotick. Bobby is all about money and being a  jerk and Reggie doesn't care about that that much, he just wants to see a smile on my 35 year old face while I'm sitting unemployed in my mom's basement and remembering how much fun I had with Nintendo with the friends I used to have when I was 8.
