At world 7. The remixes of prior non-NSMB games is making this a little more tolerable at least. Hell, the castle theme is growing on me.

So far this game is a blast. Level design is excellent.

I haven't played past World 2 still.  A mix of school work, finishing Dragon Age and getting knocked out by AC2 delayed me.  On the bright side I might be able to wrangle up some multiplayer sessions.

This is such a fun game.  I'm taking my time going through it and enjoying every minute.  Feels weird to actually be playing the Wii again.

I felt that way too.  Other than having to find the Wii remote condom and update HBC, I realized that a while ago I stopped keeping batteries in the remote and had the Wii itself unplugged.

and a bit random, but I like that the Wii keeps track of how long you played.  Steam does that to.  I see people saying they've played AC2 for over 20 hours, and while I don't doubt I played it that long, there is no way to know for sure.  I guess these people keep a timer with them or something.

This is the same team that made NSMB DS, right?  At least that's what Wikipedia says.  They definitely improved in almost all areas, including the music :P

Yeah, it's the same team. And I never said the music is worse, but it's not as significant an improvement as I hoped.

I'm halfway through world 8 right now, and if you're not the type of person that lets music ruin a game for you, and if you didn't mind the DS version's controls/physics, you'd probably love it cause the level design is all kinds of awesome. Really, aside from the two things I mentioned, I'd probably give it a 10.

I think the music is better than NSMB1, too.

For me it's Mario 3, NSMB/SMG, World.

It is already my 10th most played Wii game lol. Just under 12 hours to beat all the levels, but I haven't unlocked any levels in the secret world yet.

Game isn't as good as Galaxy but fuck if it's not incredible.  Definitely the second or third best Wii game.

And I think the music is good, personally.

Co-op is gonna be where its at.  Hopefully I can get my wife into some Mario action.

I'm getting my copy tomorrow; Amazon is also giving $10 credits back to anyone who orders the game from them.  I used it on Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, knocking the price down to $34.99.  LOL Gamestop.
I misread that as Resident Evil Dark Chocolate. Mmmm. Zombie nougat.

Niiice, just beat the main game, got all coins in the main game... really cool final battle, some incredible platforming at the later levels of this game. I really love how each of the levels has this 'flow', basically encouraging you to do speed runs to make it through.

sorry i was away watching new moon in theaters but im back now and this game is damn good.

shitty motion controls... 1 + waggle to pick up items? gtfo

game really could've benefitted from online. outside of that, i don't mind the graphics and i don't play mario games to listen to the music. multiplayer is fun, but single player is where this game shines.

40/40 from famitsu  :-\

I love this game (would give 9/10), but Galaxy (40/40) is still in a whole different league.  The art & music alone should make this score less than Galaxy; not too mention the amazingly innovative design in Galaxy that is not here so much.

I put it higher because I prefer the side scrolling style of game. 2D and 3D Mario is basically two different genres so it is hard to directly compare. Objectively, SMG is probably a good bit better than this game.

Yeah, that was dumb.  Dunno why I let game scores get me riled up.  I blame gaf for bringing out the worst in people, including myself.

Back on topic, I feel like I'm the only one getting all the coins as I go.  Everyone else seems to beat the game first then go back and get the coins.  I just keep replaying a level until I have all the coins and then move to the next.  :X  I think the game would have better pacing if I just did the levels, but I'd rather get the coins while the level is fresh in my head.  Thankfully about 50% of the time I find all 3 on my first run.

I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I like the little spin you do when you waggle after a jump.  I don't know if it does anything in terms of height or distance, but it makes you feel like you just barely caught the flag for a 1up at the end of a level.

It stalls mario for half a sec while preserving your horizontal momentum, I think....

The new suits in this game are so good.  I don't get why there is a Penguin suit and Ice flower when they're the same thing, then again, the Tanooki suit was a better leaf, so whatever.

Eh, I would like the propeller suit a hell of a lot better if I could activate it without motion shakes.  I died a bunch of times getting the coin on world 5 castle right above the lava because timing the shake was tough.

So does anybody bother with the mini mushroom? Apart from one Star Coin that required use of it, I don't recall using it at all. Propeller suit ROCKED and was a lifesaver in some boards. And man... 9-7... hardest Mario level ever!

I don't have a problem with that.  Actually, the non-waggle based penguin slide sometimes gets me because the d-pad on the wii remote is way too small.

then again, I'm just on World 5, so maybe it starts to get harder now.  So far the only difficult section of the game was the 2nd exit in World 2, which is the only thing I haven't done yet.

mini mushroom sucks, but it is a hold over from NSMB DS, so it's better to just attribute the suck to that game

It's good for speed runs of levels, and for use for cool platforming tricks.

Mini mushroom is the best powerup ever.  You don't like running on water? Or having moon jump turned on?  It pisses me off so much when I get a few of those and a regular mushroom somehow catches me while I try to avoid it.

6-6 is the absolute worst

you just stand there for a long ass time.  To collect the coins and alt exit, there is barely any effort required.  Most effort comes from holding the controller still.

Finally played some multiplayer last night.  Playing together on the same screen is fun, but also kind of fucked up.  It can mess up your jumps if you're trying to get to a platform that someone else is already standing on, or you might get in the way of a power-up.  Can you not throw your partner(s) upwards?  I kept messing around with that, and sometimes was able to throw the other player at an enemy and kill it, but often would kill/de-power my partner instead.

Finshed the game yesterday. Going to collect all the coins to unlock the world 9 levels.
I've played 3 levels in world 9 so far. They were pretty fun.

I really like the game. Been playing it with someone else since world 1. I don't think I'd like the game as a singleplayer experience.

This game definitely belongs in the top 5 best Wii games. Not saying much, though...

You can't throw them upwards per say, but if you grab someone, jump with them, and then they jump as well, it simulates the same thing, basically.

uggghhhhh 7-mid castle fucking sucks.  This game is awesome until they go waggle crazy on you.  Like, this game is has been super easy and I got 99 lives just by playing, yet when I get to these waggle garbage sections I die a bunch.  Why would waggle be pick up enemy AND move the platform!?

it's even just a pain to play these sections.  apparently I hold controllers tilted to the left since just stepping on the platform has it fly to the left of the screen.  I have to play like fucking Frankenstein's monster.

Getting the second coin in that castle was infuriating because I rubbed Mario against nearly every thing and still couldn't figure out where to go.  I eventually had to just go to GameFAQs and when I saw what I was suppose to do I :duh'ed IRL.
