I don't know what I hate more- that the Christmas 'season' starts earlier each year or the people that complain that the Christmas 'season' starts earlier this year as if it is something new that they've just discovered and nobody else has realised it yet.

uhm, AMERICAN Christmas is December 25th, but for Orthodox Christians (Russians) it's January 7th.

My father is Jewish, too, so I get to celebrate TWO Christmasses and 1 Hanukkah.

The worst Christmas songs I've heard were from Destiny's Child.  It sounded like warbling rather than singing.

Since I've worked retail, this is how it has always been: Halloween > Christmas > Valentine's Day > Easter > 4th of July > Back to School > Halloween

Plus I wonder if Christmas songs are cheaper to obtain rights to playing them, rather than other types of pop music.  Maybe that explains why we're hearing Christmas music in early-mid November?

There's a station right now playing Christmas music 24-7 through November-Jan 1st. They do it every year, and every year I forget until I stumble on it. Fuck this shit

So you're saying the Orthodox Christians in Russia would be much happier to hear commercialization of the holiday at this point than an American christian would be, or any North American Christian, or perhaps all of Europe?

What is your point? Some sect doesn't celebrate the holiday on the same day that the rest of the world does, so the observation that the music is being played too early is out of line?

I agree with the "what the fuck, it's still early November" sentiment, but I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT to bust out the Christmas shit, buy a shitty fake tree for my apartment, watch Love, Actually, listen to the Charlie Brown Christmas album, and listen to girls sing All I Want for Christmas is You at karaoke. Also buy myself mad swag for Christmas before I fly across the Pacific to get drunk with my family.

Also, Christmas this year means Avatar. And I'll be in Japan when it comes out, which means I'll be drunk as shit as I watch blue people fight it out with the round eye in 3D.

Dude "X'MAS" here freaks me out. Nothing closes, you can shop on christmas eve and there are heaps of couples out indulging in one of the biggest date nights of the year. It's weird.

Sorry, I should have clarified.  I meant large retailers and what seasonal items they stock.  Now that Halloween is over, time to put the Halloween stuff away and replace it with Christmas stuff and that includes playing Christmas music.

Edit: I see DWG got it.

I'm not even going to be here for Christmas proper, but I imagine that is weird. But that's always what I imagined a completely awesome Christmas to be-- everyone out and about. Maybe not in the weird, commercialized, Japanesey way though.

This was pretty sweet while it was just deloreporn and 80s synths.

That looks like an early teaser, rather than a full trailer. This one's a lot better:
