Did my trip to the Japanese bookstore that I do every 4-6 months.  The prices are so jacked up.  $36 for a 2400yen artbook.  But if you're not buying in bulk it's still cheaper than buying from Japan and paying $30+ shipping.



Yotsubato   it feels like it's been years since I read the last volume.  Maybe it has! 



Finally came out.  I thought it would never because their previous game Soul Cradle never got a materials collection.  Seems like after Disgaea 2 Dengeki publishing dropped them.  Dengeki used to do these hard cover huge books for each of their srpgs with every single thing from the game in them (art, endings, pixel art).  So now N1 is on Softbank Creative and it's the same thing but soft cover.  I dig these book since I only put in like 30 hours on their srpgs to finish the main story and these books let me see everything else in the game that I missed.



Toi8's first artbook.  I really enjoy his waterpainted style.  The backgrounds are usually very neat and his characters have personality.  I first found out about him cause N1 used him for Soul Cradle instead of their usual artist (he had done promotional art for previous N1 games as a guest), since then he's done a lot of promo art for tons of things and then main stuff that I've never heard of.  Anyhow it's got some nice art

Just came, yay!  Post office is super lazy.  It says they tried to deliver at 12:40 yesterday, but a) I was here & b) the package didn't even require a signature, they just left it today.  So yeah, they were too lazy to come out here and drop it off yestderday so got it today :X

Took the holiday cash I got from the parents and went to the mall tonight to pick up some older games I'd been wanting.  Gamestop.com said the store had all of them in stock, and the prices seemed decent. 

So I get to the store and it's overcrowded.  The one copy they have of Okami is $17.99 used.  Fuck that, Amazon has it new for $14.99 and I don't have to pay for shipping.  Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition used is $29.99.  I can get it used off an Amazon seller for $12.  They have the regular version for $10, but none of them have complete cases/manuals.  Scratch that one off the list, Amazon it is.  Next up is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.  $54.99 for a used copy?     All of these prices are higher than the website.  I check this one on Amazon and find they are having a sale and the game is marked down to $42 NEW.  Last up is Dead Space.  It's $19.99 new, which is fine, but I take one look at the line, and walk out and drive to Best Buy right down the street and pick it up there instead.  Then I ordered the rest of the games from Amazon.

Just finished doing Christmas gifts with my wife (we're leaving for Omaha and don't want to lug the gifts with us). She got me a new suit, Lego Rock Band for the PS3, and Tokyo Vice by Jake Adelstein. The new suit totally rocks!!

Out of the local stuff, I can only drink Yebisu or Premium Lager, and those aren't nearly as good as what I generally like, which is Fat Tire or anything in the IPA variety. I'm dyin'. When we hit CostCo I'll bag a crate of Cooper's Ale (Australian) and occasionally I'll spring 2000 yen or so on a bottle of stuff from Stone at a bar I like, near where we had dinner. Other than that, I'm floored by the lack of variety here in Osaka.

Cormacaroni's always good the good stuff rolling in. What's up with that? Tokyo has all the import stuff and Osaka is whiffing.
