Owned for actually guessing correctly what the cape would do?

Seems you're the one who got owned for thinking I was owned. :smug

Bonfire of the Vanities DLC is out, did anyone get it?  I downloaded it yesterday night but haven't had the chance to play it yet.  Definitely playing it when I get home, though.  I wonder how the sprint jump will change how the game plays.

Got both dlc+secret locations.

Did the Forli one tonight and I think it got a bad rap.  Sure it's the least likeable gameplay types in AC2 (escort, timed missions, chasing after people, lots of forced fights with large numbers and no smoke bombs) but if you are the type of person who enjoys AC2 for the story experience the narrative stringing the missions together is enjoyable and even the weakest AC2 gameplay is still pretty fun.  It wasn't "great", but it was a fun hour that was worth $4-5.  Looking forward to doing the Florence one tomorrow since I hear it's a lot stronger and mainly assassin missions which is the game strongpoint.

I was set to buy the second one until I heard the new acrobatic ability was a stupid springboard that sometimes appears on roof times and lets you do a long jump.  I thought it would be something cool that makes all climbing easier like that one leaping skill.

Finished the DLC & Secret Locations.  Was not very good afterall.
It's a lot of content.  Took me about 4 hours for all of it combined.  But it's like 4 hours of the lowest quality AC2 gameplay and that is kind of fun for an hour or two but overstays its welcome.

The 2nd DLC with the new section in Florence is weird.  The section only has 1 unique looking area and 6 viewpoints.  There are no treasures and no feathers, so there's little incentive to explore.  Half the new missions don't even take place in the new area of Florence and instead are just in the main city.  It's basically just "hey, go kill these 9 people spread out in the city" and each kill mission has a 15 second cutscene and 15 second death talk after you kill the guy.  Some of them are a little creative, but what KILLS about half of them is there are "kill the person without being spotted while always in max notoriety and we're putting the people in really hard to get to spots so you can't cheap shot them".  It's fun but having it desynch and load and start you over anytime anyone spots you gets tiresome.  For 1 guy it's ok.  But then when you finally kill the guy and you get to do the same thing for FOUR MORE GUYS, it's kind *groaaan*  There's not much plot in the 2nd DLC either.

The hidden locations were a mixed bag.  The Florence one was ok, nothing great, nothing terrible.  Just a little platforming, a little kill guys.  The boat aresenal one in Venice was kinda lame, and the other one in Venice was just another ubi singapore church linear platforming with checkpoints which was good fun but still easy.

I really don't think anyone who doesn't play the DLC is missing out out anything.  It was okkkkk and enough content for $10, but the quality of the content was pretty mediocre.  Better to put that money towards AC2-2 and ROME (with hopefully good mission design).

On the plus side the DLC finally gave me a reason to start using the pistol since it made some of the really annoying kills, just slightly annoying insead.

I used the pistol a ton near the end of the game.  Makes assassinating people without getting spotted so easy.

BTW, can't you just wear the Medici cape to remove notoriety?

I thought the game wouldn't let you wear the Medici cape, or at least it wouldn't let me equip it when I tried.  They probably want you to have to do all those assassinations with full notoriety just to lengthen the thing out.

I didn't bother with downloading the first AC2 DLC until Bonfire came out 'cause I figured it be less frustrating that way and now that I've finished both of them, I kinda think that the first DLC is the stronger of the two.  I know it's short as hell but at least it was focused.  Bonfire was basically like your standard side quest assassinations with the difficulty turned up. Like Bebpo, I was really hoping for a little more variety here.  There's only so many "kill the guy without being seen" missions I can take - btw, fuck that dude on the boat.  I don't know how many times I had to restart that one.

I think I know why they took out memory 13 now - it's pure drudgery.  AC2 actually works better as a whole without it being there.  I guess at least gives you another reason to back and play a little more AC2 after the fact but if that was in there from the beginning it would've made the game feel like it just hit the emergency break.  A total pace killer.

YES

I was getting really pissed off with that guy.  They are such dicks by putting him in the center of the boat but kinda below and back so you can't just snipe him or jump him from anywhere.  Was ridiculous.  I'm not even sure what the "correct" way was supposed to be.  I got lucky and one time when I climbed up the back, instead of killing the 2 guys in front of the wheel (which always alerts everyone and ends it) I walked right behind them and threw a smoke bomb.  This made the entire boat full of people start coughing and I quickly dropped down and stabbed the main guy.

And yeah, I thought the first DLC was better despite the escort missions.  At least the first one had a story going and some variety.  The 2nd one barely had any plot and was just the same thing 9 times until you were sick of it.

I ended up being able to kill everyone on the boat oustide of the two big guys that were directly in front of the target.  The guy on the dock went first, then the two patrolling the left side of boat, next was the guy on the opposite side that walked up to the very back, I then took out the two by the wheel with a double assassination which got me some attention but not enough to have to make me start over, and finally I was able to take out the remaining guards that went to the wheel to investigate.  That took me quite awhile to get right though.  It's definitely the hardest assasination in the game, imo.

It's not really news, since we knew about the "always online" feature from Settlers, but the Ubisoft giving 30 days notice part is interesting and new.

Oh for fucks sake.  I just found out that the Bonfire DLC I downloaded wasn't the full DLC.  I unknowingly downloaded the barebones one with just the assassination missions but minus the Assassin tombs - the part that I really wanted to play.  And since I can't download the tombs individually, I have to spend another 500+ space bucks to redownload the entire bonfire DLC again with the tombs if I want to play it.

WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY MAKE 2 VERSIONS OF THIS SHIT?  Fuck Ubisoft.  Fuck AC2.

If it helps, you aren't missing much.  2 of the 3 are meh, 1 is enjoyable but really easy and short compared to the tombs in the main game.

Yeah, I did the same fucking goddamn thing. :duh

But then I realised I often don't like dungeons as they can be a bit too cramped for the camera, I'm really just pushing through them to get Altair's armour.  So I felt a bit better after realising that.

Still, I agree they're a bunch of fucking assholes for such a distinguished mentally-challenged way of doing it.  I'll keep my 200 pts and they can fuck off.

I didn't even realize there was a version of the DLC that unlocked the extra maps till someone on EB said it a few days ago.  I just bought the one that was announced on Live.  I would've bought the one with the extra maps if I'd seen that, but now I'm not even gonna bother.

Yeah, when I downloaded Bonfire I clicked on the Bonfire "advert" that was on the XBL main page, then it directed me to buy it.  I didn't see any mention of two seperate DLC packs.  Kind of a dick move on thier part.

Oh well.  Sounds like I didn't miss too much.

I want the pre-order statuette of Ezio.  I saw two they have on display at the local import store and it actually looks pretty cool.  There are two versions - one with his regular armor like on the poster demi just showed, and another with Altair's armor equipped and dressed all in black.
