Pretty good stuff so far.  I hit the A button about 10 minutes ago and he's doing all the platforming and fighting on his own, so I think I'll go JO for a bit while it finishes up.

So, better than the original?  All the reviews saying that it really does fix up the issues the first game had (which sounds like everything I hated about it) have me interested.  Maybe I should dump Episodes From Liberty City and get this instead.

Quote from: beast786
IGN AU Review
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/104/1046020p2.html

"In terms of engine quality, however, the difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions is literally night and day. Starting with the shocking difference in contrast and colour depth, the Xbox 360 version's high-dynamic range lighting is more intense and casts deeper shadows and renders a darker night. In our direct comparisons between the two games, the PS3 version looks noticeably flatter and more washed out, detracting from the ambience.

Assassin's Creed II might get muddled in its storytelling, but it's one heck of an adventure along the way.
The PS3 version also suffers from a lower texture resolution, which affects everything from facial details (you can see freckles and pores on the 360, but faces, lips and hair looks almost universally blurry on PS3), to wall and ground textures, leaves and particle and debris effects.

I know it's almost passé to rag on the differences, but it really does surprise us how large the gap between the two versions is."

Seriously. Is that true? :(

LOL.

So does this game deliver where the original failed? The original was pretty good, but it quickly became too repetitive.

Most importantly, does this game have SUBTITLES? Because I'm boycotting unless it does!

spent whole day playing this, pretty enjoyable.

so far i think i can get all the achievements except for the feather shit, not marked on the map. :(

more impressionale:

they should have made a whole new combat system because so far this is the same just with more weapons which are probably slower than the hidden blades for quick counter kill.

other than that though game is AC done right and then more.

plus i am pretty deep in the story quests and no interruptions from the guys outside the animus so far.

This game is much better than the first. But it's not really so much Assassin's Creed now. It's like...

Assassin of Persia

Hooray for arbitrary catacomb crawling. This wasn't ripped from Prince of Persia...

it's similar to that cave level in the original game when you first play as altair.

so far i only liked one, that big church in florence because the platforming in it was awesome. the others were just stab this guy and move forward zzz.

Some interesting infos:
 - The villa level and the stuff you can do in it was developed by Ubisoft Annecy.
 - The Catacomb/PoP-like levels were done by Ubisoft Shanghai.

This game is awesome so far.  Renaissance era Italy is so much more fun to run around in than the locations from the first game.  The main character is also more interesting because he deals with ye olde booty calls, finding feathers for his gender confused younger brother, robbing and beating up people for fun.

Only thing I hate is how they keep cutting in Italian between Italian accented English.  I hate that stuff in games, movies, etc.

I either missed it or it hasn't come up yet

and Ezio is a badass compared to Altair.  You can wreck guys with the hidden blade as if it was a main weapon, and you can super wreck people with a sword.  Grab and slit throat :rock

What a mindfuck ending. Like a nice fucking LOST finale. I am so stoked for the finale (assuming AC3 is the final game).

Just need all the feathers and wear the Auditore cape (earned at 100 feathers) around the game and I am 1000.
