this game is just so good, its one of the few examples where a sequel has actually gotten rid of everything that was wrong with the original. Theres so much variety in stuff to do and narrative and missions and everything ugh I just wanna play some more but its bedtime  :(

On that note, is it worth doing any of the side-missions? What collectables are worth hunting?

You need to collect all the codex pages to finish the game.  Feathers and codex pages are needed for achievements and unlocking things.  Side-missions and treasure chests don't get you anything, but assassination missions are at least fun.

How does the PS3 version compare to the 360 version?

Is the gap as big as the firsts?  I own the first for both systems and the PS3 is absolutely craptacular as far as visuals go.  And bugs are much more common.

Is it the same for the sequel?  I kinda want it for the PS3.

No idea, but the 360 version tears frames like mad. I wish I wasn't banned on GAF, because I really want to rip into that Ubi employee who claimed that there was no tearing this time.

Also, Venice is damned beautiful.  :omg

The combat bits aren't very interesting, but that has so far been a small part of it. I've enjoyed the stalking missions (very similar to those in Infamous, which I actually liked), individual assassinations (like, guards on rooftops), but most of the fun involves just bounding across rooftops in search of puzzle bits and feathers. There's a stronger direction towards the mainline story this time around, so it feels better taking on side missions and activities.

Feels a bit like Infamous this time around, only much prettier but with relatively meh combat.

PS3 tears more, about 5x more, when nothing is happening framerate is the same,30 fps,but in more demanding scenes PS3 framerate dips are more frequent and deeper. Its more blurrier because of quincunx aa and 1080p mode runs at 960x720.Thats about it.
But its an improvement over first game.

In fact see for yourself

If you have a 360 and PS3, get it on the 360.  It isn't perfect and there is still pop up, tearing and frame rate issues, but it's supposed to be way better than the PS3 version.

I suggest going to the villa band buying moves for all the various weapons, then just focus on barehand/disarming combat.  If you disarm a a guy using a staff, there is a move you buy that sweeps any enemy in front of you to the ground, then you just walk up and stab them.

See, I had no idea you could buy moves for the weapons.    :-[

If there's one thing I don't like about the game, it'd be the Fable-like approach to regions. Tuscany is, at this point, basically a town, some stables and a backdrop. It's a bit comical.

Yeesh.  Thanks, guys.  I'll be getting it for the 360 then.  I just have the PS3 in the bedroom for lazy playing so I was going to nab it for PS3 considering the amount of time I put in on the first one.

I honestly didn't notice any screen tearing while playing the 360 version.  I'm sure it's there but I guess it didn't bother me.

The lip synch was a little funky at times and some of the people seemed to be cross eyed, but other than that I thought it was pretty solid technically.

It's like 4 hours of tutorials and carrying boxes and talking to ugly people. :-\ I JUST WANT TO KILL DUDES

Once you get past the first bit, there really isn't much of that, at least not in main missions. I stick to the main story most of the time, with the odd excursion for a Truth puzzle, a feather or syncing viewpoints.

Feels like they ran out of ideas with these "free the prisoners" missions. Cleared the Truth video, though. It's a bit troublesome that my dude is being directed by a couple of clowns who hadn't figured out the puzzle long before the final video showed.

Also, Venice is getting to be large enough for me to miss the fast traveling of Infamous.

I'm trying to do all the assassination contracts in Tuscany and I can't find the target you're supposed to ambush in the Roman amphitheater for some reason.  These contracts are hella fun otherwise tho.  I'm also nearly done upgrading the Villa so what else is there to blow money on besides combat moves?  Is it worth it to buy armor, weapons, clothes, art?

The story is all kinds of MGS crazy but if they could turn it into something really great if they handle the next game properly.  They initially said the series was supposed to be a trilogy but after all that stuff at the end I'm not sure how the hell they could possibly wrap it up in any satisfying way with just one more game.  I'm guessing the whole trilogy thing is off the table now.

I got 1000/1000 in this one - I don't remember the last time I bothered doing that.  Bring on DNA sequences 12 and 13 DLC.  I'm ready to play more AC2.

The ending totally owned! I love how they pull out all the stops in the last 1/2 hour (same thing happened in AC1). Cant wait for AC3!!!!!!!1

Just need the feathers and cape wearing achievement for 1000/1000. Will just blast thru it with a map I think.

Its kinda lame that Sequence 12 & 13 were 'corrupted', and DLC is announced so soon after a games release. Its the way it is these days, I guess. I suppose Im not too pissed, AC2 was a big enough game. I will buy the DLC, naturally  :-\

that was the thing i didn't like about the game. even though the design around them was poor, i really liked the established assassinations from the first game. setting up the who, the where, the how, etc. then the escape. it was repetitive, sure, but i really liked the concept.

i figured the devs were going to make it a little more dynamic or whatever but they pretty much abandoned it all together. it's assassin's creed in name alone. it's all about Ezio's revenge quest.

Same, I'm sick of dust-collecting boxes and statues and shit.  And I would never give money to EB anyway.

I bought AC2 from overseas for AUD$70 or something so as long as the DLC costs less than about 5000 points (lol) I'm good to go.

At launch I paid full price for the Special Edition of GTA IV, and will probably never do it again.

I'd consider it for BULLY 2, but I've heard from someone close to the studio that the original dev team bolted to do a 4X space game after wrapping that gem. If they're not handling the sequel, I've got limited confidence in the sequel. It'll be day 1 for me, but an extra US$20~30 for some trinkets which set the publisher back an extra 5 bucks isiffy.

If there was a Special Edition Classics version of GTA III, I'd pay ridiculous sums of money for something with a poster, soundtrack CD, poster or wall scroll. Maybe a scratch-n-sniff book of all the principal characters, and hugging pillow of Donald Love. Well, "ridiculous sums of money" compared to what the game can be found for used or even Platinum/Greatest price-wise... say US$80.

nah not really, he always said a little prayer for them and made it as "peaceful" as possible.  The first few guys he killed were out of revenge of course, since they were directly responsible for murdering his family but most of your targets are killed for the political reason of them being templars.

In my experience, stealth always makes it easier to get closer to the target.  I haven't finished the game yet but I did just do the first assassination that you have to do with the gun so I'm definitely past halfway.

Fantastic experience.  Has a shitton of flaws, but it does so much right and it gives a lengthy fleshed out satisfying story experience that you just don't see in non-rpg games outside (pre-MGS4) Kojima these days.  Can't wait for ACIII but I don't feel like OMG NEED IT NOW like most of these half-assed "buy the sequel!" games.  Very satisfied and good for another couple of years.

Yeah, the EB Bully Brigade all popped a consensual chubbie over this a couple days ago. The composer spilt the beans during a recent interview that he was about to start work on the soundtrack to it. Considering that was Hopkins' first year at Bulworth, hopefully they'll stick with him and leap into a Sophomoric experience in more ways than one.

DLC was recently detailed, btw.

It is the two "missing" sequences (12 + 13).

Memory 12 cost $4 and is out in January.  It takes place in an existing area, but also the most under-utilized one (Forli).  I think this is the one where you can use the flying machine again.  Memory 13 cost $5 and is out in February.  It is still in the same general areas (so no Rome) but has expansions/new areas to go around in.  Supposed to be 10 missions and you apparently get a new climbing ability.
