the only thing i didn't care for in season 5 is when sayid accidentally killed rose, it was too much like shannon's death

i never liked rose or bernard that much but that was pretty contrived

i think they'll do something big with bernard next season, the look he gave sayid was murderous, i think he might flip to the other side

I still can't believe that this simple, but awesome island show I'm watching right now in Season 1 is eventually going to morph into some convoluted scifi with time travel and alternate realities and Jack and Locke fighting each other. It sounds almost as bad as the direction Battlestar Galactica went during its last two seasons. And yet you guys are telling me that the show stays good in spite of all the bullshit. It's got me pretty intrigued.

The island was a weird and unexplainable place even in the pilot episodes where trees disappeared and a polar bear came out of the jungle. The show has good development and leaves you satisfied with how things evolve and the unfolding of everything.

Any mystery, especially a BIZARRE mystery is bound to disappoint once they explain the rational behind it.

Too fucking bad if once they explained how distant eerie things were elaborated on not to your satisfaction. Oh wait, maybe the show would've been better if the anything is possible just because, though I'm sure the lack of explanation would never have left a sour taste in your mouth and you would never bitch about that too.

Lost is is a good show. But it would have been a GREAT show if hadn't it strayed on the "bunch of people trying to survive on a deserted island" thing instead of playing up the stupid sci fi crap. Because honestly, the sci-fi stuff is my least favorite part of Lost. What I love are the characters and their different points of view.

The show isn't even about the sci-fi. That's a minor plot element that pulls it all together. The show is about the relationships between the characters, and that's why season 5 wasn't as good as the others - because the characters were split too much.

Pretty much this. S5 was pretty much all plot progression and little in the way of great character interaction.

I've slept on it. I loved last night's Lost. Amazing finale.

Here's my theory:

(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)

Compare those to:

(Image removed from quote.)

This statue is clearly Egyptian inspired, or Egyptian in general.

Wikipedia says this:

Quote
Sobek (also called Sebek, Sochet, Sobk, Sobki, Soknopais, and in Greek, Suchos) was the deification of crocodiles, as crocodiles were deeply feared in the nation so dependent on the Nile River. Egyptians who worked or travelled on the Nile hoped that if they prayed to Sobek, the crocodile god, he would protect them from being attacked by crocodiles.[1] The god Sobek, which was depicted as a crocodile or a man with the head of a crocodile was a powerful and frightening deity; in some Egyptian creation myths, it was Sobek who first came out of the waters of chaos to create the world.[1] As a creator god, he was occasionally linked with the sun god Ra.[1]

This war is clearly a war between gods. I think that the statue being destroyed symbolizes the death of the god of creation on the island, hence why no babies are no longer born on it in the current timeline. Maybe the guy who fights with Jacob is the deity god of creation? The guy can create another Locke, after all.

The guy that Jacob was talking to at the beginning of the episode seems to be another god of the island alongside Jacob. The two clearly do not see eye to eye either: "someday I will kill you. I will find a loophole."

We know very little about that other deity but we do know is that he has the ability to bring them back to life or at the very least, make use of their body. I think that the deity took control of Locke's body and made a copy, one he himself can transplant into. That way he can carry out his goal of killing Jacob. After all, this has happened before. Remember the guy from Rosseau's group that was revitalized after he clearly died? That's the other deity at work. Maybe this is why Hurley sees visions of the dead? Jacob clearly says Hugo's "not crazy" when they meet face to face.

I don't fucking know, I'm goin' in circles here.

Another theory of mine:

Anyone Jacob touches gains the power of immortality while on the island. Maybe this is why Richard is ageless through numerous decades and timelines. All of them were touched by Jacob, except Juliette, Miles, , Desmond, ;etc it seems.

Of course, my theory could be wrong considering Locke's currently laying in a coffin dead.

I think he used the guise of Jack's father to persuade Locke that he was going to die. He used Locke's faith for the island so that he would be killed in some way. Jacob probably wouldn't let Locke be killed on the island; he's special. So he had Locke tell Jack about his father, and then set the chords in motion so that Jack would bring all the others back with him to the island. This way, ol' smokey can use the body of Locke as a host to kill Jacob. Because Locke is special.

About Juliette: It could be inferred that the reason they showed it was specifically for that scene with Sawyer but, that's not very Lost-like and that'd be dumb. I think it's the writers' way of showing us that the others were blessed by Jacob while Juliette wasn't. He did not appear in Juliette's flashback nor was she handed an object like the others were.

I still love dissecting the various elements of the plot, that's half the fun of Lost.

But I'd greatly prefer a more down to Earth, more realistic plot than the puzzling mess that is current Lost.

This is why season 1 is the best season.

I'm sure this last season won't fully deliver. We'll see. The last season was weird as hell. Lost has changed so much. It started out pretty interesting, but it's just getting too weird now.

But I'll definitely be getting the Lost Complete BOX Blu-Ray when it hits the shops.

The best thing has been my friends seeing me watching a later episode and then being like "WHAT THE FUCK! I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISLAND SHOW!"  When people ask if they'll like it, I always tell them "You know how you can watch the first season of a show and then go to like the 4th and usually pick it up after a few episodes?  It's usually just character changes and whatnot?  Well with Lost, if you were to do that, you would be so damn confused it's not funny."

The first episode I ever watched was the Season 2 finale, then I watches Season 1 the next day and if it had not been for the same actors, I would have thought I was watching the wrong show.

Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote the point in a television program's history where the plot spins off into absurd story lines or unlikely characterizations. These changes are sometimes the result of efforts to revive interest in a show whose viewership has begun to decline. In other cases, the changes have other causes (e.g. an actor quitting, different writers being hired) and the diminished interest is the result.

Nope, dont think its sharking the jump. Interest SKYROCKETING for finale

Almost wrapped up Season 1. It's pretty awesome. However, I'm supposed to believe that out of 48 survivors, only about a dozen of them would actually do anything interesting or make any attempt to have their voices heard? I know that a cast of 48 wouldn't work, but it seems unrealistic for the other 30+ survivors to never do anything except stand around in throw-away scenes.

I love how in the second half of Season 1, Jack starts to assert his authority more, but Locke, Sawyer and occasionally Sayid are perfectly willing to tell him to fuck off. Do we see more of this kind of thing in later seasons?

I like how there are so many strong personalities on the island. There are at least five characters who could conceivably lead the group. I hope that there are more power struggles as the show goes on.

Is this your first time seeing it? Why would you ruin the fucking show by reading about the O6? Ugh.

if the numbers are not entered, the core of the station goes critical.  But its not a nuclear reaction.  Think giant electromagnet that causes the station to implode on itself.  Later on you will learn that desmond caused the plane to crash because he entered the numbers late.  The magnetic force caused oceanic 815 to crash on the island, but the station was saved until later when locke goes through with not entering the numbers much to the dismay of the other survivors
