You werent paying attention, were you, PD? Losties take brat Ben to others to save him, Richard says, paraphrased "we'll take him and fix him but he wont remember this". And thus it was whitewashed.

What makes you think they didn't remember?

The only real thing that bothered me was why the numbers were some random serial code stamped on the hatch by some peon when they're supposed to be the variables in that Fettucini code or whatever.

Ethan met Locke when he was older, and Rosseau met Jin before she "went crazy." You'd think she'd remember finding some asian dude out in the ocean.
