ouch, that was clumsily written/shot/acted

at least it's place as a mythos side-story, with no main actors, makes it somewhat ignorable

I just read an interview where the writers state that they did have an explanation for the outrigger scene but they weren't able to fit it in to the season organically  :lol

Seems so weird that they wouldn't, considering there's been like a kajillion outrigger scenes this season, anyone of them could've fit. I was still expect it to be Richard/Ben/Miles.

Hahaha. No Outrigger answer? Fuck this show.

Anyway. Whatever. Fine. I hope the finale is BATSHIT and I hope Jack & Co get to just FUCK UP somebody, but it'll probably be a lot opf whiny baby crying and goodbyes and no cool stuff.

Did they ever explain those numbers? I might have totally missed that. Or are they going to ignore them? Just like they're ignoring the "importance" of Walt and Claire's baby.  ::)

So Hurley winning the lottery with those numbers was pure coincidence  ::)
And the whole story about the dude who got crazy because of those numbers was also something that "just happened".  ::)

Re-watched the episode, still bad but maybe not the clusterfuck I thought on first viewing. I actually stopped watching it the first time as all the scences with the kid actors was claw-my-eyes-out bad, and Allison Janney, though a great actress, was seriously not selling it. They should only have been on for like 5 minutes instead of over half the show. Once Titus Welliver came on the show was actually decent. It didn't help though that in trying to portray Jacob as sheltered and naive, they had Mark Pellegrino go full distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.

Pretty much.

They kinda imply that the numbers draw them to the island.  Hurley would have never gone on the flight, etc. if he hadn't won the lottery with those numbers so they drew him there.  it's a hell of a copout, but whatevs.

I thought the numbers were done pretty well actually.
I think the most succinct point I've read (from Mark MacDonald's twitter) is that Lost is interesting because it is not told linearly. Were it all told in chronological order, it would be boring as fuck because all the mystery would be explained right at the start.

They said the same thing about Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, but you know what?  In the end it was still just four people chasing down an alien and a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.

Aaron being raised by anyone else was supposed to be really dangerous or some shit, right?  Is he like the antichrist or something?  What the hell happened to that?  Kate is raising him and he seemed fine the last time I saw him.

They later said the psychic was full of shit.

PS: Full spoilers are out on the next episode. Seems like it'll be a lot better than last week's episode. But then again, last week's episode was supposed to be really good on paper.

The psychic was proved to be a liar, but that doesn't mean what he said wasn't true. Many characters have stressed the importance of Claire raising Aaron.

Why was Walt special? Why did they let him go so easily? etc

I'm gonna post my fantard answer, feel free to laugh:

I think the purpose of Walt was to signify that people out there (or on the island) are gifted with abilities. Walt simply gave reason to why Hurley can see people, Miles can talk to them, and Desmond can get static charge but without the cling. He wasnt the reason why, he was just the centerpiece. Like oh Walt was special, so I guess Hurley is too.

i don't think there's anything that can salvage this show now

it's like at the beginning of this season everyone from the past five seasons was fired and replaced with people who had never watched the show before, who were then shown the dvd sets on fast forward and were told "okay, now wrap most of this up"

we're going to a concert wear this. yes! no more new fucking dharma stations for finale :punch

desmond actually tolerable this episode, the new world character navigations were its most keen invitation yet.. wider gaze, nicely modulated and the character pieces thankfully taking its emotional breaths from, really, the season's only poignant episodes (the substitute and drlinus)

the old dharma houses chapter delivered. welcome linus machinations. claustrophobic locke/widmore scene. terryoquinn usual praise.

sadly following the AcrosstheSea shipwreck, jacob cruelly ripped of any allure now.

Quote
I think Lost is some metafictional story which reflects Lost fans. Like John Locke and the island, we were all intrigued with the mystery, mythology, and exciting potential the show had. But, Locke is dead, a patsy to fate’s cruelty. And us one-time fans, only still watching because we need resolution, realize the promise and potential will never be paid off. The two, superbadass mythological demigods know little more than we do. The “rules” can’t even be explained, let alone introduced. It is whatever the writers tell us.

After that last episode, you really don't need any more explanation to wrap up the story. I mean, if you think about it, there's your answer about the Others' list in comparison to Jacob's.

You are going to get our "sideways universe" explanation in the finale. I would say that's about it.

Although I have a feeling that we are going to have a shitload of old castmembers come back for the finale. Including Walt. They wouldn't release a poster with EVERYONE if EVERYONE wasn't going to be involved.

Walt was in an earlier episode. Of course, there wasn't an explanation on why Dharma wanted him. In fact, the more I think about it, the more the whole Dharma arc seemed like a waste of time. Lost boils down to two gods fighting it out, and what exactly did Dharma or the US military (S5) have to do with anything.

Bloodwake: and what explanation is that. The others wanted Jacob's candidates dead?

I liked Lost better when it was Dharma doin' thangs.

Or when it was Ben and Charles fighting over the island. When you get down to it, this past season has exposed them as nothing more than clueless pawns.

What happened to the rules barring Ben and Charles from killing each other lolol

Gotta agree with Rumbler. At one point Ben was one of the best characters on the show. When Charles was introduced I still couldn't trust Ben as a "good guy." For most of S6 he's been nothing more than a travel companion.

Isn't that the point!?

It makes a huge chunk of the series just feel pointless. The battle between Ben and Charles ultimately didn't mean a thing, because the real battle was going on between Jacob and Smoke Monster.
