ABC ANNOUNCES THE PREMIERE OF THE SIXTH AND FINAL SEASON OF "LOST,"
WITH A SPECIAL ALL-NIGHT EVENT ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2

ABC announces the premiere of the sixth and final season of "Lost," with a special all-night event on Tuesday, February 2. A recap special will kick off the night from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET, followed by the much anticipated two-hour premiere from 9:00-11:00 p.m.

The series will then air in its regular time period - Tuesday nights from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET - beginning the following week, on February 9.

"Lost" stars Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Ben, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Ken Leung as Miles, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Terry O'Quinn as Locke and Zuleikha Robinson as Ilana.

"Lost" was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J.J. Abrams & Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender, Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, Jean Higgins and Carlton Cuse serve as executive producers. "Lost," which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii and premiered on September 22, 2004, is from ABC Studios.

Lost has been great even since the hiccup in Season 2/ early 3. Don't let them discourage you. Even 2 and 3 are good if you watch them consecutively on DVD/ Blu-ray

I'm re-watching S3 right now and can barely compel myself to finish. I'm like 3 episodes in. Dunno, I liked when the show was smaller yet the mysteries seemed bigger. In S3 they expand the scope of the island so much that most of the mystery goes out the window. Plus it's not great when you're rewatching and know certain things aren't going to be explained that season or the next

I really dig the show but I had heard that this show pulls from The Dark Tower. I was hoping there would be more playing with multidimensional stuff. But I've only finished S4 so I'll see whatsup with S5.

Nah, people who've only seen the first two or three seasons think that it pulls from Dark Tower. There's some similarities, but once seasons 4 and 5 happen they pretty much go away.

And if you want multidimensional stuff, that's what Fringe is for. Lost is more time travel.

Which reminds me. I was into Fringe for a while but never got passed a few episodes into the first Season. The whole "Mysterious Technological Corporation" does make a better backdrop (than DHARMA). I'll probably pick that up eventually.

Its easily the worst season. I wont spoil anything for you, but for a show that had up until that point been fairly creative and fresh, they use some of the worst plot devices and lazy writing techniques the show has ever seen in S5. There are a few good episodes, but the season as a whole, and the main thrust of it, is so insanely distinguished mentally-challenged that it hurt my overall love for the show.

Do you like time travel? How about 17 episodes of it? Do you like when amnesia is used sloppily as a plot device? If your answer is no, then youll hate S5. Also, they fuck up the character interaction of the show too by splitting people up. Do you love all the Jack and Locke conflict? Guess what? They share ONE scene in the entirety of S5. Also, if you're a big Locke fan, prepare to be buttfucked.

Anyways, yes its the worst one. Especially disappointing coming off the excellent S4.
S4 > S1 > S3 > S2 >>> S5

The beginning of season 3 sucked though. It got better mid way through season 3 when the writers were able to negotiate an end date so they could stop stalling.

Solo: Locke is probably my favorite character of substance. And yes, his struggle with Jack (who I can't stand) was one of the biggest reasons I enjoy the show.

I remember the second half of S3 being better, I just have to get to that point. Also I remember liking S4 a lot

I can't stand Jack. The whole Jack/Kate/Saywer reminds me of the Cyclops/Jean/Wolverine love triangle (and I hated Cyclops); maybe I was too much of an X-Men fanatic as a kid, dunno. While each pov becomes repetitive by the second or third season, Jack's was more annoying to me, maybe because it's done almost exactly the same way each time. I get it, he can't let go.

I'm guessing one of those three has to die eventually.

The "Jackface" is a source of comedy amongst honest LOST fans who can admit that Fox is a terrible actor. There are a lot of hilarious gifs out there of various Jackfaces throughouyt the seasons.

I think Jack is written as flawed and somewhat abrasive. I think that is a good thing. Especially when everybody seems to have this false idea that you are supposed to love every character through and through in a piece of fiction. They are all pretty flawed. And they all have their good points. Which is a good thing imo. Which is a slightly separate issue from how well each of the characters is portrayed by the actors which tends to vary.

There is no hope for people who liked S5 more than S4, which was incredibly tightly plotted, focused, set up its conflict and followed through on it wonderfully. S5 is a clusterfuck.

I'm not complaining about him being flawed (every character is as you point out), I just feel each Jack POV does a bad job of hammering home the same point without making it feel fresh or interesting; I think most viewers "got it" after season 1. Locke's POV goes into some pretty ridiculous places but it's usually interesting; the last one I saw was where he brings the undercover cop into the (weed planting) community he was apart of. I liked it, even though it continues to hammer out his issues with trust and yearning for a family; I liked not having to deal with his father on screen.

I don't like Kate either. My favorite characters are Locke, Sawyer, Sayid, and Ben. Hurley is cool

I think Lost does a pretty good job with characterization especially for the TV medium and good characterization is often slow and consistent. I like how they generally show how a characters flaws get them into the eventual situations they are in. Some characters are handled better than others of course. Up to where I've seen, I think Jack is handled well.

Claire gets a pass for being so fucking hot. But then again preggers Claire>>>non pregger Claire

I couldn't stand Charlie. It really seemed like they ran out of reasons to have him on the show. I'm really tired of Sun and Jin's relationship which repeats the same pattern every season. Hurley is a fun character but his POV flashbacks are rather ridiculous. Desmond is pretty cool. Rose reminds me so much of my grandma it's kinda creepy; she even looks almost exactly like my grandma looked at that age. I really liked Mr. Eko

Nearly every single character on the show has some form of father issues (neglect, abuse, pressure/expectations, etc). Michael is like a case of a father's love being taken to the extreme, a father who would do anything to ensure his child's safety. That resulted in some pretty insane actions but I wonder, how many fathers would take those types of actions if they were required to guarantee their child's safety.

I really disliked Michael. Its commendable, how badly he wanted Walt back but he became too frantic and basically a Male version of Claire that actually did something about Walt being taken. One could consider him a bit misunderstood, not knowing what a father would do if put in this situation but I really didn't like him either.

I just finished S5... what a way to fucking end that Season. MOTHERFUCK.

Happy I'm caught up. Having pretty much watched it all in the span of two weeks I can say that I really dig the series as a whole. There are weak points here and there but I like the series more when it kicked into gear (latter half of S3, all of S4 and yes, I liked S5

). Can't wait to see how it all ends.
