I just saw this list of GAF:

The A.V. Club's 15 Best Games of the 00's

15. SSX 3 (EA Sports BIG, 2003)
14. The Sims (Electronic Arts, 2000)
13. Ninja Gaiden (Tecmo, 2004)
12. Braid (Microsoft Game Studios, 2008)
11. Advance Wars (Nintendo, 2001)
10. Left 4 Dead (Valve, 2008)
9. Final Fantasy XII (Square Enix, 2006)
8. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Rockstar Games, 2002)
7. Ico (Sony, 2001)
6. World Of Warcraft (Blizzard Entertainment, 2004)
5. Portal (Valve, 2007)
4. Rock Band (MTV Games/Electronic Arts, 2007)
3. Fallout 3 (Bethesda Softworks, 2008)
2. Katamari Damacy (Namco, 2004)
1. BioShock (2K Games, 2007)

My only thought is it's nice to see :bow SSX :bow2 get some recognition.

Also, I never thought Out of This World was very good.

List doesn't contain ICO or SotC; it does have a MGS game on there, but it's the superior 3 as opposed to the dreadful in every way 2 so I can't hate on him TOO much for that.  Not the worst list in the world, needs more BioWare/Black Isle.

i haven't had a pedantry fix in awhile and am getting antsy, so:

Evermore was developed by Square Soft Inc. (in Seattle)

Square USA (in LA and Honolulu) developed games: Parasite Eve, Chocobo's Dungeon 2, Chocobo Racing, FF9.

Nah. Fuck Valve games on all consoles. I buy on Steam. Like a real man.

I just think a 2-hour game concept got way too much praise because it was probably one of the few games people finished. And it wasn't even the game that was good, it was the in-jokes that made every person feel like they were in the cool club and FUCKING RUINED BIRTHDAY PARTIES at my work for a whole goddamn year. 18 of the 20 levels were fucking tutorial missions. The real replay in the game comes from time trials? Fuck that. There's a reason the game sells for the same cost as Diner Dash.

It turned people into fucking parrots, "The cake is a lie!", "The cake is a lie!", "The cake is a lie!", "The cake is a lie!"
Arghfuck. Yes, I get it. The voice in the game talked about food and the same food is now here. And you're pointing it out, again. Do you also only see 1 movie a year and try to make a reference to that every chance you get?

It's like no one gave a shit about the real meat of the Orange Box. Thankfully the jokes have finally died down, but I hate people that thought they were being clever for pointing out the stupidest fucking shit ever put in a game.

So yeah, fuck Portal.

I replayed it a little bit ago and chatted online with some people about it without the references.  it was even funny again since I had some distance from the launch of the game.  I think you're still shellshocked from the initial outpouring (understandable.)  There really was about a 3 hour window to enjoy the dialogue of the game untainted by nerds...the 3 hours after it came out on steam.

Flashback >>> Another World

I couldn't get into Another World but Flashback... man... loved that game. It was also one of the first games I have ever finished from start to finish. Of course back then I used maps & solutions printed in gaming mags :-\

Man, I loved Flashback. Everything about it was just so awesome.

I never made it very far though because it was so hard. :'(
