So is Rogue Warrior gonna be any good? I haven't heard anything at all about it, but it sounds kind of cool.

I used to think that everything Bethsoft was quality, but after WET I dunno about that. Still, it IS Dick Marchinko, who weaves manly tales of manliness and ass whipping. Shit. After I get my haircut I am gonna go to the used book store and pick up a Rogue Warrior novel.

The single gameplay clip I've seen looked pretty bad. Glitchy visuals, but I guess you aren't supposed to bitch about that when looking at WIP. The kill moves are cool, but there's something to be said for brevity, and jumping to an observe cam every time might get annoying. Also, the one-liners made me think of KZ2.

I guess now I've seen two clips. Looks like a really shitty R6V.

I like how the 'stealth' in the game involves running up behind some guy and then stabbing him in the back.

Looks like it could be fun in a cheesy kind of way, though.

If I'm reading the history of this game right, Bethesda basically shot down a tactical shooter version and tasked Rebellion with redesigning the game to be more about flashy kill effects and macho one-liners. Granted that the first version was developed by Zombie, but Rebellion doesn't have much better of a track record.

Looks super-linear. And buggy. So you're almost right. Has a Conflict: Denied Ops feel to it.

Don't worry, the review explicitly states that the game is FILLED with cussin. Also, all of Dick's lines are made into a rap that plays over the end credits.

Rebellion seems to be the go-to developers anybody ever goes to when they just want to give up on their product and push something out the door, on time, and on budget. Sure, they haven't put out anything really good in this generation so far, but they have put out a whole lot of games, perhaps moreso then any other developer of their size since then.

I'll be comfortable giving up on them if Aliens Vs. Predator sucks, but until then, I'm not going to be surprised that something like Shellshock 2 or this game actually end up sucking ass.

Looking at the wiki, they bought 2000 A.D. (excellent! proven intellectual property! "fantastic! let's make games!") and then bought CORE from Eidos ("we may make a game. someday. if we can work past our own angst.") so I'm not sure what they're lollygagging about with Dick Marcinko's past-shelf-date novels.

They partnered with DC to bring 2000 A.D. properties to the USA, and that worked about as well as could be expected, from trying to get DC to promote someone else's IP. Maybe Fantagraphics would have got them onto more shelves?

I can't understand when a company gets ahold of something as tasty as Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper, then fails to capitalize on it.

Damn, this game is getting ripped apart in reviews. Granted that critics suck ass and whatnot, but this one looks like a genuine mess. If I was working at Bethesda, I'd be mildly concerned about Demo Dick going Rogue Warrior on the whole bunch.
