16 fucking posts and not one mention of MGS games? A pox on all your houses, gentlemen.
jrpgs are horrible
Thanks! You guys have added another 10 years before I'm even willing to ever try a JRPG. Wow. This is just epically bad.

This is just epically bad.Star Ocean 4 was the anvil that broke the camel's back, so to speak. I haven't really played a big budget JRPG since then. I'll break that streak with FFXIII, but I'm not expecting much anymore.SO4 is easily my biggest disappointment of this generation.

Go play something good to wash the taste out.
Let's try to deduce what the worst cutscene in MGS4 is.Worst story ever

MGS1-3 cutscenes = , MGS4 cutscenes = Hell that could describe the games too! I think Kojima really didn't want to make MGS4.

No, no one could do that. The story is balls but the game still has a lot of hilarious camp value. Like the part where you first meet the President and he grabs Raiden's nut sack to see if he's a girl or not.

what is wrong with that? Seems like 90% of other jRPG cutscenes.
I am about to start MGS4 for the first time, so I may make more contributions to this thread
You know, it was also Star Ocean 4 that killed my interest in JRPGs. It was just so bad that I couldn't go back. After that, everything about anime and JRPGs just suddenly hit me and seemed terrible and ridiculous. Like, "how the hell did I ever enjoy this" kind of thing. It's kind of sad, I suppose. I just need something GOOD to wash the bad taste out of my mouth...

But there have been plenty of really good to great WRPGs with a decent range of settings. If they're not your thing, fine, but I've certainly been satisfied with what's been on offer. Much moreso than the JRPG scene of late.
Dragon Age King's Bounty Fallout 3 Mass Effect

I just need something GOOD to wash the bad taste out of my mouth...Good thing there's been a lot of really great WRPGs in the past few years. That would be great, but I don't really like WRPGs all that much either. I can't stand the generic fantasy worlds any longer. Stuff like Dragon Age and The Witcher hold mild appeal, for instance, but the gameplay systems aren't all that fun and the worlds just seem so dull to me. Furthermore, MMORPG style gameplay (both online and off) is extremely uninteresting to me.At this point only action RPG-lite titles like Fallout 3 and Mass Effect really even do anything for me (I loved those games). The ONLY JRPG I enjoyed this generation was Lost Odyssey, oddly enough. Not necessarily a great game, but I had a good time with it.
Quote from: Himuro on December 03, 2009, 04:28:37 PMDragon Age King's Bounty Fallout 3 Mass Effect Dragon Age is mixed bag when it comes to cutscenes. I haven't played King's Bounty. There is a lot to love about Fallout 3 but none of it involves the cutscenes. Mass Effect has legit good cutscenes and voice acting and stands way above the rest of that stuff.
We're talking about the games themselves though.
