Yeah. It's light on the RPG. The combat/puzzle system is really clever and makes for some good strategy.

Ok I played a little more and got introduced to artifacts and elite units and all that shit. This is Puzzle Quest 1.5

- Sidequests
- Unique goals instead of just KILL THAT DOOD

Unicorns are so OP it's hilarious. Shame only the elf can use them. I started the knight boy's story and WOW he's a gimp. His ability is garbage.

Yeah that's where I quit playing last night. I never got Unicorns on my elf though for some reason.

The knight guy is shiiiiiit. That stupid shield move is useless. It'd be cool if it completely blocked all attacks for one turn or something, but instead it only protects you from like 5 extra damage. Dumb.

I get the feeling they're going to swtich characters like this a few times in the game, which is gonna suck. Losing all my wicked shit and having to start at level 1 again with one type of unit and a max number of like 10 units on the field at once suuuucks.

Well theres not much grinding involved, Hero maxes out at Level 10, units at 5. Knight boy's story is difficult as fuck. It sems every enemy is like 2 levels above you. I'm stumped to shit.

I think the trick is to use nothing but Spearmen, they seem to not be affected when attacking.

I'm at the Druid's tree on the elf's story. So far I'm really digging it!

The knight story is so frustrating! Even random battles are epic struggles right now.

Ok. I'm addicted. :bow :bow

I beat the last guy on the knight's bounty list and got these sweet four space knight units that do unbelievable damage. Level 8 now. Sucks that I know I'm on the verge of going back to level 1 again, but oh well.

I was having trouble making progress but I discovered that the random encounters are the key to grindan. Also Spearman. Spearman spearman.

I also use the Priest along with the magic staff that drains enemy health instead of healing. Sort of like a poison.

I've been using two sets of swordsmen and one set of spearmen. Fusing two horsemen is the easiest way to win in this campaign. Fused horsemen are really easy to make and do like 50 damage, so they just tear through pretty much everything.

I've also been using the revive + 25% health artifact the whole time. It's hella useful.

Wow the boss for Godric is cheap as fuck. I have no idea how to even approach this without getting lucky and using a Champion unit.

Just beat the knight campaign. Last boss was tricky. I beat him first try, but with just 4 health points left.Best strategy I found was to just flood the screen with walls. You can't have too many with that guy.

been playin this too, just beated the 2nd campaign...
it kinda plays like magical drop: the rpg with a few twist here and there,it's pretty good stuff but i wish the level cap wasn't so low altough i guess it's not really a problem since the game feed you a new character right as you are getting near the cap...

one thing that annoys me is how idle units absorb attack when they get destroyed, all the cpu has to do is calling for reinforcement and ta-da! it's like nothing ever happened,it's especialy annoying against undead since not only it means your attack didn't do any actual damage but you also gave them some nice extra wall to block stuff...
maybe there should have been a delay for core unit to be called again in case they were destroyed so that at least it doesn't feel like a good thing when your unit die

also i can't help but think that they made champion unit too powerfull,as soon as one of them swing the game is almost always over...

That's the point. It's also pretty difficult to get one of them set up unless you get a lucky hand.

i get that (if we want to add negative they are all quite slow) but i still think that enough damage to kill you in one hit is still too much...

i also wish you could equip more artifacts, the revive one is so usefull that all the cooler one just get thrown in the bunch and never get used

haven't played since I beat the second campaign, but now I'm really frustrated on the third one. I'm fighting the guy who starts the fight with a single champion unit ready to go and is invincible until that champion unit attacks. Then you get an opportunity to fight him for realz until about halfway where he goes invincible again and has two elite units and a champion ready to go.  :-\

well i pulled it out on my second try thanks to quite a lot of luck, timing and a shitload of walls (vampire healing also help) but have you tried using the spider cloak? that artifact is awesome! i haven't lost a single hp after equipping it since everything kicks so much ass all of my unit just go trough! heck with the mantle my core unit are strong enough that they destroy charging elite unit

anyway i have unlocked the special necromancy champion and...

kills anything it touch in a single hit including the hero O_o WTF?
EDIT: mmm it falls too easily for my liking,in fact i'm quite disappointed  :-\

Oh yeah, I forgot about the cape. I'll try that. I guess with +100% unit damage 90% less health isn't such a big deal.

So I beat demon boy's campaign and now I'm stuck. Jesus. The fifth campaign starts you with three boss battles in a row using the game's first three factions. I'm stuck on the second, which starts the fight with the enemy possessing three LINKED and ready CHAMPION units. #@*&^@* What in the fuck am I supposed to do?

ok i've beaten the next campaign,it was lazy of them to reuse a boss,he went down pretty easily
as for the bit after that i had no problem here is how i did it
spoiler (click to show/hide)
for the first part i used ghost, they don't receive damage while charging so the fire does nothing to them
for the second part i used druid and unicorns,i had druid concentrating fire on two champions and they were never able to take a single turn while setting wall all over the place, the third was able to attack but the wall and the unicorn shield reduced most of the damage
for the third part your unit take damage while charging so i used angel to compensate

Yeah I figured out to use druids last night after a decent struggle. I didn't even think to use ghosts on the first fight. I won it by continually building walls to fill up my special meter, and then shooting the acid ball at the enemy. Beat him with like 2 health left.  :lol

at level 10,it's 10 damage per bigger wall, while it's extremly situational being able to turn all your big wall into 10 damage fireball can hurt even more than the elf sniper arrow

spoiler (click to show/hide)
it's not a matter of surviving, you can't die if you have a charging phoenix on the field,i pulled it off with nightmare and sorcerer, tough i got really lucky and inflicted the finishing blow with aidan magic... the sorceror is required as it can stop the phoenix and therefore giving you the chance to defeat him before he starts pull more shit
[close]
anyway i finished the game
spoiler (click to show/hide)
for the final boss i used gremlin, gremlin, gremlin tons of gremlin! they are awesome for the fight,i brought phoenix but ultimately they didn't matter very much, what did matter tough was the ability of casting thunder storm, that spell deal around 75-100 damage per cast or if it doesn't he still stop his hand,so usefull so i would suggest to bring that artifact that make you start with a full mana bar if you don't want to use the phoenix feather

so i guess it's back to spirit track for me?
