that...exactly is what I was referring to
But I don't really freak out over musical skill.
who are you, am nintenho?
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that the kid has skill, and is overcoming a disability, showing even more skill. But people playing guitars amazingly fast and skillfully doesn't really do it for me. I can respect someone the same for playing so hard the guitar bursts into flames as I can respect someone for playing a slow, simple, meaningful song.
Look, you gotta hand it to the guy for trying. Normally this kind of thing would be out of reach, and here you are giving him the finger.
I'm not giving the kid the finger. I said I respect him and acknowledge that he has great skill. I just don't pop wood over that kind of thing.
Let me give an example. A band that a lot of people don't like, Nirvana. I really like. The music was extremely simple, yet it helped lead a generation. A beginner can pick up a guitar and play Smells Like Teen Spirit or Come As You Are, yes. Hell, those are the only two songs I can play (not very well).
I don't really expect other people to enjoy the music that I listen to. I'm pretty used to people telling me that my taste in music sucks, actually. But, I gauge "taste in music" by what you enjoy. If you enjoy what you listen to, then you have good taste in music. If you listen to music because it's popular (or in some cases, obscure), and not because you like it, then fuck you. Doing something just to be different is high school.
