COD Classic

Anyone playing this?  I downloaded it today because I played days worth off the multiplayer on LAN, but on console I am terrible.  I have the sensitivity all the way up and it's still not sensitive enough for me, and you can't change the controls so L2/R2 are aim/shoot.  I'm having some buyers remorse.

I bought it for nostalgia sakes. Unfortunately it doesn't control very well (looking and moving) which essentially stops you from wanting to play it.

It feels the way Goldeneye or some of the really bad PS 2 fps games controlled back in the day rather than a modern fps on consoles does.

I would definitely recommend a pass on this or at best trying the demo and seeing if you can tolerate the controls.

I think it's fine for what it is and that era of fps games. If it didn't control like dog shit, I would have enjoyed it.

Honestly you are much better off playing this one on the PC. I'm normally not a guy who does that annoying thing of telling people which platform they should play something on...

but in this case I'm going to be that annoying guy and say you can get it cheaper and have a game that actually controls well so you can sort of experience it the way it was meant to be played. The controls on the console version simply don't allow that. They simply don't match up to what console fps controls should feel like. Its really ashame since the game never came out on consoles, so there won't ever be a proper console version unless they patch this one which seems highly unlikely.

Agreed.  I still think the game holds up fine, but the port doesn't seem very good.  The right stick aiming does have that really weird feeling of horizontal and vertical movement being separate rather than most analog shooters in the past decade.

This is based on the 360 demo, btw.

I noticed it on the demo.  It controls like the PC version does using a controller with an Xpadder profile.  Serviceable, but the transitions aren't smooth.  There's also some framerate dips and microstuttering when you get around a lot of fire or explosions.  It's okay, and still very playable, but not $15 okay.
