So this is already expected to be the best-selling game of ALL TIME? lol
Japan Still Crazy for Mario
New Super Mario Bros. Wii tops three million sold. Fastest ever for Wii in Japan.
January 19, 2010 - Wii Fit and Wii Sports both took over a year to sell three million units in Japan. New Super Mario Bros. Wii did it in just seven weeks.
Enterbrain (via Mainichi.jp) reported the three million sales landmark for Mario today. As of the 17th, the game has sold 3,002,753 units.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii has some big shoes to fill, as its DS predecessor is the best selling DS game of all time in Japan with over five million units sold. The Wii version continues to place in the top two in the weekly sales charts, so don't totally rule out comparable sales.
Similar to the rest of the world, Nintendo Japan gave New Super Mario Bros. Wii a huge promotional push to close off 2009, with ubiquitous commercials featuring celebrity players. The company will be continuing its promotional push over the coming months as it holds a national tournament to determine the top coin collector in the country.

Goddamn, what a generation we're in, fellas. Nintendo hardware and software outselling and overshadowing the competition on all levels, boasting numbers that eye-candy games like Darksiders, Demon Souls, Bayonetta, MW2, and virtually every other big-budget Hollywood game could only dream about.
Nintendo just needs to stop. This is like an all-out asswhooping on all spectrums. Hitting the little guy (like Sony, who's poised to lose all their PS2-era profits this year, BTW. Credit: Gamasutra) while he's down is not my idea of fair business practice, but who in their right mind could judge the Big N?
What a fuck-awesome generation we're in, boys and girls.
