How did you insult us?  I just want you to try out Sakura WarsTM.  I think considering your love of Alan Wake, you will find Sakura WarsTM right up your alley!  And it's only $29.99!  What is holding you back, Willco? You could probably find that much money out of spare change from digging in between your couch cushions!!!

jesus christ, this game has quite possibly the worst writing -- specifically the dialogue, exposition, and narrative -- in any recent horror game i've played. how do you make a game about a writer without EMPLOYING a writer i ask :smug
I just watched a special piece with the writer talking about how they're mirroring a TV program for writing style and pattern. The guy has a huge French accent. Where was this developed, France or French Canada? Either way, I feel like I can't relate to French cultural handling of fantasty/SF. Spies and criminals? Excellent. Metal Hurlant? Metabarons? Moebius? Pretty but I can never understand its mix of lowbrow and affectedness.

There is a "lot" to explore,if you dare of course. It's not an open world, but you can go around.

People should play this game on highest difficulties,it really becomes...hmm,dark is bad, don't go there

I wish there was an option to remove hud...why? :'(

Their excuse was...lots of people got lost even in cabin, trying to start a generator...so we all have to suffer :yuck

Barry the Super Jew is the best character ever. He should get his own game. :lol

does the game save right when you finish an episode? I'm making it a habit of playing 1 episode sitting and I also listen to the end episode song as well. My concern is that if i quit back to main menu just as the song finishes it won't saved and i'll have to replay a bit of the previous level again. Just as the song ends it goes right into the next episode and I can't quit back to main menu until the game loads.

Once you START the next episode, it saves. If you shut off before you hit skip, it will not save. If you hit skip and shut it off after the save icon runs, you can start up from the beginning of the episode.

No, it's nothing original. It's a licensed song ("Space Oddity" by David Bowie), but it just fit perfectly with the way Remedy ends the game - which is very ambiguous and is kind of a cliffhanger.

I'm on board with any DLC or sequel, as long as Barry the Super Jew is featured prominently throughout. I'm not a big fan of the Alan Wake character, and the only time I really dug him was when he was interacting with Barry. The gameplay, atmosphere and story make up for the rest of the shortcomings. I really liked this title, but its high notes are all Barry-related. The running gag where he kept trying to save the Alan Wake standee had me in stitches. :lol

As the local soapbox shouter for purchasing new games and supporting new IP, I feel bad about not picking this up immediately -- but I'm so, so backlogged it's not funny, and I just know by the time I can actually get around to playing it, it's going to be in 10 sales at Best Buy.

Probably. I recommend it. It's flawed, but it hit a lot of the right notes for me. Here's how I can tell I really enjoyed it, once I started playing - I really couldn't put it down. And that doesn't happen very often. The last time I think I put everything on the back-burner and pillaged a game like this was Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The story is pretty good, the atmosphere is top notch and the game is pretty fun. The supporting characters are really great, and I look forward to whatever is coming down the DLC pipeline. I just hope owners don't get shafted with an unresolved story if it doesn't chart.

Also best sound design since Dead Space. It was really creepy when you'd be in a multi-story building and you could hear Taken walking on the floor above you.

Still, Barry Wheeler. Gotdam. Alan Wake is just his sidekick. Game should be called Barry Wheeler.

Also I bought what microsoft advertised as 4 months of live for $10 but only got 3 months. No power greater than lieing.

Are your cutscenes out of sync? I don't know if my xbox 360 is dieing but none of the voices match what's being said. It's like, terribly noticeable in a "Did no one at Remedy actually watch  the cutscenes?" kind of way for me.

It has an ending, and it resolves this "season" arc, but like any television serial, it has a twist for next season. I mean:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
... with Alice back, and Mr. Scratch subbing in for Alan, nobody will notice the real Wake is gone.
