Playing this on my ps3 on my 30 inch sdtv and this is in fullscreen. I also don't notice any lag that has been said to plague the ps3 version.

Also, this is harder than MM9 so far. MM9 robot masters levels were easy aside from like one stage.

Level design is more creative as well. Sheep Man gives me a boner. You fight arrows (as in you know, pointer arrows on computers?) that drag and click on boxes to throw them at you.

This game is a test of reflexes more so than any Mega Man before it. Most classic Mega Man titles are tame when it comes to reflex based action. They're not extactly the most twitchy action-platformers out there.

MM10 is all about twitch. You'll fall down ladders only to be met with spring guys, so you have to instantly jump right when you land to avoid him, and then jump AGAIN when you do land so he doesn't catch you.

You'll be navigating through an ice level where you're given very little traction or holding for Mega to walk or run on, so you're going to be jumping through most of that level (especially when on ice blocks). This becomes an issue when you're fighting birds who shoot missiles at you AND dudes who shoot bullet pellets that spread into four beams, all the while platforming from section to section, taking on enemy after enemy.

And then there's the second mini boss in Strike Man's stage.

Whooo boy howdy, this game is probably the hardest classic Mega Man since Mega Man 1 probably (that is, if you don't count Mega Man n' Bass) and I haven't even gotten to the Wily stages yet.

Suffice to say, this game is good. Real good, and it doesn't show an emphasis on levels designed around cheap spikes either, although those are certainly there, but also the enemies in general. You have to have quick reflexes for this Mega Man.

I tried out Proto Man and I dislike the lag in his shooting. If you shoot while jumping he stops shooting in mid-air, and continues upon landing. Not good for my style of play, which is basically "jam shoot button if enemy is within firing range" or more specifically "rotate between jump and shoot button with ballerina like precision. 1, 2, 1, 2 or at at the same time." Proto Man having charge and slide is definitely awesome though, and that alone should add to the replay value of an already replayable series.

The balance in this game is weird.

Solar Man's stage was a serious bitch.
Chillman's stage was a serious joke.

It's much easier than all the other stages I've done so far.  Ran through it on my first life, first try.
Just did Nitro Man's stage and that wasn't too bad either.  Worst so far have been Solar Man & Pump Man's stage.  I HATE the 2nd flying chicken in Solar Man's miniboss after you kill 1 of the chickens.  He barely comes down and keeps throwing flames that I find tough to follow.

I have Commando, Blade, and Strike left.

Gosh, I love this game so much.

You know, I thought that going for Sheep Man first in the boss order would be the best as he's the easiest boss and contains arguably the easiest level.

But I did Pump Man's stage, which is arguably even easier than Sheep Man's, and got his power. Immediately went to Solar Man's stage and got his power, made a world of difference.

I say this because his Pump Man's power is the Water Shield. It's a variant of the Leaf Shield in MM2, and similarly it does wonders for offense and defense. So after taking out Solar Man with the Water Shield, I went to Nitro Man's stage and equipped the Solar Flare weapon. It's equally as handy.

So right now I'm coming up with an order interally in my head, I don't like to cheat and look up what weakness is what in these games so far, when I play on hard mode as Proto Man I plan on doing this:

1. Pump Man
2. Sheep Man
3. Solar Man

I'll see what the rest my order is once I get to the boss gauntlet in the Wily castle.

Also, some stage music is growing on me. I love Solar Man's stage music particular and Nitro Man's of course. There's also Pump Man. :rock

Here's the plan:

Buy lots of E-Tanks

Jump into boss room with nothing but regular gun

Shoot wildly and guzzle E-Tanks like cum

Repeat

Beat Game

Can someone give me a tip on Nitro Man. I could beat him by gulping e-tanks like hooker downs cum, but that's cheap and dumb.

I have tried every single weapon on this guy and he's not budging. I use the pea shooter and it barely makes a dent. I've used all weapons in both forms (bike and robot form) and I have not found a weakness.

What the fuck?

Beat this.

Mega Man 10

I think overall this is probably the best classic Mega Man title in terms of difficulty balance. It's not too difficult in that it's cheap (MM1 I'm looking at you), but it's no cake walk either. The interesting thing about MM10, however is that its challenge mostly doesn't come from the platforming itself, but the enemies you fight. Compared to other classic Mega Man titles, this game is probably the most action-based title in the series.

You can see Inti Creates influence flow throughout every section of this game. Whereas MM9 was mostly a return to the basics for classic MM, MM10 manages to merge both classic MM an modern MM (particularly the Zero series) formulas into one cohesive package: you'll have multiple routes you can take in the game (just like in the Zero games) each route with varying degrees of difficulty, there are multiple modes and incentives to replay beyond "I want to beat this without getting hit once", its features multiple characters each with their own play style, and the game is far more action-based compared to its predecessors.

One thing I'd like to mention is the creative level design. I think this game missed some potential in regards to platforming, but I think it makes up for that in the fun levels it has. Pump Man and Solar Man in particular are probably some of the coolest stages in the whole series, and the Wily stages are the funnest I've had in the series since MM3's: not too long (MM4 and up), at least 6-7 different mid boss fights (some are straight fan service!), and varied level design.

Honestly, if there's one thing I dislike about the game beyond the fact it could feature better platforming, it's the robot master weapons. They're honestly not all that fun to use. In games like MM2 and 3 I tend to make certain sub-weapons (quick shot, metal blade;etc) my main weapons because they're such a blast to use. Then again, that's not being fair to MM10 because outside of a few MM titles, this complaint is universal for me.

The music is hit and miss but when it hits, it really nails it.

High replay value, fun level designs, decent challenge, great music...I think it's safe to say I doubt few games will nearly as fun as MM10 this year, and I haven't even touched Proto Man, Hard Mode, or Time Trial mode yet.

In a futile attempt to try and rank these games after the release of MM10:

MM2=MM10=MM3 > MM: Powered Up > MM6 > MM9 > MM5 > MM7 > MM1 original > MMnB > MM4 > MM8

As for the future of MM, I really hope that we can get some new MM titles that aren't within the classic MM bracket or one of those stupid Star Force rpgs sometime soon, because I think there's a distinct lack of Mega Man action on my handhelds in the past two or three years.

I don't remember enough of the old megaman's to discuss megaman history
but I don't like MM10 as much as MM9.  The weapons suck, the stages are kinda forgettable with underused elements and the boss fights are zzz.  And there's too much of a focus on bullet sponge mini-bosses.  Also the music sucks compared to MM9.

On the plus side I like that there are multiple paths and Protoman is playable from the start.

I sat down and finished this tonight.  I can kind of see where Segata was coming from saying it's an easy game.
I don't think it's easy!  But, I do think this is a badly balanced MM.  Some stages are super easy, others are quite hard.  Wiley's castle is the best example of this.  I thought Wiley 1&2&3 were tough stages with multiple mid-bosses and wiley 3 has a nasty boss.  But then Wiley 4/5 are a joke.  Wiley 4 is super easy and Wiley 5....they give you TWO M tanks and ONE E tank right before the final boss.  Not too mention the last couple of Wiley stages throw out E/M tanks and lives left & right.  Plus the final boss is pretty simple; in fact most of the bosses are really simple and have like 2 patterns.  I dunno, sometimes I thought it was the toughest MM game, sometimes I thought it was the easiest.  Very few times did I think the difficulty was just right.  Wiley 1 is a good example of "just right" difficulty.  Long stage with 3 unique mid-bosses with multiple patterns each.

It's a good game, but after finishing it I don't think I'd ever replay it.  Whereas when I finished MM9 I went back through it was a few times simply because it was really fun.  But I will give Protoman a quick shot, at least to see what his shop looks like.

Finally played through this today. Actually, I practically played through it twice since I redid several of the stages because I forgot about the World Warrior achievement. But anyway, I thought the game was great. I'm a big MM9 fan so I had high hopes for MM10, and it met my expectations, for the most part. The soundtrack isn't as strong and I didn't think the art design of the stages and robot masters was as memorable as MM9's, but maybe it will sink in more during subsequent playthroughs.

The stages and bosses are pretty well designed though, each with their own gimmicks and patterns that stays interesting throughout. Nitro Man and Solar Man in particular were my favorite bosses since they put up a decent fight. I'm pretty fond of Blade Man and Pump Man as well, but their patterns are a little too easy to dodge. I agree most of the robot master's weapons are disappointing, but I like to play using only the Mega Buster most of the time so it doesn't really bother me.

I really liked Wily's Castle as well, especially stage 1 and 3(?).
spoiler (click to show/hide)
The machine with a bunch of old Mega Man bosses was awesome, and who doesn't love Giant Enemy Crabs?
[close]
Then comes Wily 4, which was easily the hardest part of the game for me. Most of the time I'd get to the second phase with around half health, and then I'd usually get caught by one of the traps he sends out and then get nailed with lightning. After a while I just said fuck it and beat him using his weakness. 8)

So yeah, awesome game. Now I guess I'll clean up a few more achievements and then start working on Mr. Perfect. I'm going to try doing it legit, but I'll probably do it on easy mode first just to 200/200 it. They really should have disabled achievements for easy mode, it's just too tempting. :'(

Scene when you play MMX, take out Chill Penguin first. His stage is the only stage with the required X upgrade, the legs, which lets you dash. It's a required ability and makes tons more enjoyable.

Just make the dash button L1 and get to dashing.

Highly suggest getting Mega Man Anniversary Collection and Mega Man X Collection for ps2.

I thought the second Dr. Wily stage was the only level that was significantly harder than normal, the rest are just a minor step up. The main thing to look out for is all of the robot masters have slightly different patterns and/or an additional attack.

Super Hard on BC:R is a lot more challenging imo.

In wiley 3 it goes on a while.  If you die later on, having to redo it each time is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  It's not like it's hard.

yeah that was the problem, I kept on getting impatient and complacent and forgetting that you cant jump too high then I'd hit the roof. Then I'd die a stupid death on one of those shrimps or something. Reality was I was totally bushed after a long day at work and needed to play something a bit more laid back lol

beat the game finally, now I am going to attempt hard mode. I bought Bass, holy shit hes a beast! Rapid fire buster, can shoot it in all directions, he can fly and fire a spread shot... awesome. Apparently he makes mr perfect and the speedrun achievement a piece of cake... I will be taking advantage of his power  :-*
