But seriously, his wife has all the Fit and Sports and Kart and the like, but he needs something more fun, maybe more manly.

Mad World? House of the Dead Overkill?

He's not a huge gamer, I think the over the top ridiculousness of Mad World might appeal to him, but I've never played it.

I've never played it either so I'm not sure. I'd still go RE4 maybe - the pointer makes it a lot easier and there's minimal waggle to get frustrated over. Otherwise some sort of "light gun" game sounds a good idea.

I don't get what's so great about Excite Truck but even my non-Wii-fan friends swear by it. Maybe it's a good idea.

Costs too much. Looking to spend $30. I'm thinking a $20 game (Mad World, Force Unleashed, RE4, HoD Overkill) and $10 in Wii points.

I think Dead Space is pretty long, same with RE Umbrella Chronicles. Someone who isn't much of a gamer would probably appreciate that.

The only Wii game I've been interested in over the past two years is Boom Blox 2. It's not very manly but I think it'd be fun and maybe it's cheap now. God this thread is a terrible case of blind leading the blind.

RE4 Wii sounds like the best choice out of every game mentioned in here so far. If he didn't already play the GC or PS2 versions that is.

Thanks for the input. It's off the list. I'm actually thinking that he'd enjoy the Force Unleashed more than anything else mentioned.

They don't have a classic controller. They're the typical Wii owners who do nothing but play Wii Sports. We roomed together in college, though, so I know that he likes real videogames.

Resident Evil 4 is probably one of the few good games you can get for under $20. Other than that there's the light gun games (HotD, RE Umbrella Chronicles) and some downports like Overlord or The Godfather and some military shootan games like Medal of Honor Heroes 2. There's a few other decent games in that range but I don't think they're what you're looking for (Trauma Center, Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes).

Hotd overkill is a good choice. It's very easy to learn and it has co-op and multiplayer modes. If he likes sports, tiger woods 10 (the motionplus one) and pro evolution soccer are excellent.

edit: They just released cod4 last month on wii. Single player is a janky mess but I'm very impressed with how the multiplayer has transitioned. If he has no way to play it otherwise its arguably the only good multi fps on the system.

I saw new copies of Excitetruck at Walmart. They may have done another run, but don't check specialty stores.

I refuse to shop at Walmart, and none of the big box places around here (Fred Meyer, Target) have Excitetrucks anymore.

How's Excitebots? It comes with the silly wheel attachment and fits the agreed upon price limit.

Excitebots is less of a racing game and more 'do wacky mini-games while drive in a circle' game. Some people like it for that. I'm not one of those people and think Excite Truck is way better.

NFS Nitro is supposed to be a solid arcade racing game. Check up on that.
