Driving an hour today to a decent sized (read: real) mall today with a friend to finally finish off the Christmas shopping. Also, I picked up toys to put in a toy drive hamper, but I'll be damned if I can find one anywhere. All the charity drops this year seem to be focused on food.

Do you write off what you put in muck? I never do, but one time when I was working for this backbone website I asked if they wanted to donate something and the guy in charge of giving out stuff forced me to get a receipt so he could write it off. I wasn't sure if that's what I should be doing.

Nope. I kinda want to skip Christmas, or do something different than spend time with some of my family members. Always love seeing my grandparents and most family, but there's been some annoying drama going on recently on my dad's side.

I know some people who are going to be spending the day at senior centers, and serving food at soup kitchens. I've done both before, but never on Christmas.

I always flat-out ask folks what they want and the answer is almost always either "lol i don't know teehee" or "you don't have to get me anything haha".  Christmas-time is a utilitarian's nightmare.  I absolutely loathe buying things that may end up being useless or unused.  I think it stems from my own reaction to shitty gifts.

Sometimes this attitude leads to really great gifts, but often it comes down to a bunch of gift cards.  Either way, Christmas sucks.
