Comic-Con 2010 beats my mother and eats pizza without the crust!

4-day memberships are already sold out? bu...bu...why? Is there a way to get a two day pass rather than the measly offerings of one day passes shamelessly displayed on their website? I need something to do in the US this summer ffs.

Also, any one get their 4 day pass already?

I wanted to go this year, then I saw 4-day passes were sold out, so I was like "meh".

My understanding is that the whole convention is now basically 80% waiting in line, 10% wading through crowds, and 10% viewing actual content (provided you got in line early enough).  I'm not sure how it is the whole thing sells out faster and faster every year.  It's a shame though, because a lot of the smaller panels usually sound interesting but it'd be too much hassle to deal with all the other bullshit now that Hollywood has completely co-opted the event.  I saw all the coverage on G4 and it looked awful.....just too many people in too small a space.

Looking at the website they are refusing to mail out badges as well -- so that's one more line you get to wait in.  :lol

My advice would be to set your sights on another convention that hasn't so clearly outgrown its exoskeleton -- E3, Dragoncon, PAX, BlizzCon, etc.

What other events/conventions are taking place in July? E3 2010 was bumped to June.

Oh, San Diego? If anyone is in dire straights, let me know later next year. One of my cohorts was there on business last year, and it looks like it'll be that way again. I'll find out if I can bring anyone.

Does it have to be July?  PAX and DragonCon are Labor Day Weekend....Blizzcon probably August....

There's probably some other notable events over the summer, but I think most cons are moving more towards fall and less towards summertime.

Yep since I'll only be in the US from June 29 til near the end of July. =/ I'll probably get a one day pass or something.

Except that E3 is not open to the public.

And no, it's not 80% standing in line. If you get a seat for Hall H for example, you can keep it all day and view everything.

It's only 80% standing in line for losers who want autographs.

E3 is "not open to the public" in the same sense that "nobody under 21 ever drinks alcohol".  Getting in is pretty trivial.  Even moreso if you are from Europe, I'd imagine.

So it's sitting in the same chair all day long, snoring through presentations you don't care about just so you can see the ones you do?  That's even assuming they don't start clearing rooms like they did for Avatar/Twilight.  My main reservation about going is that it appears to be a huge asswhip just to go anywhere or do anything since every hallway and corridor is packed with morons.....maybe it would be best just to sit in the same chair all day.
