Oh, and apparently my friend's girlfriend is giving me an "amazing" gift tomorrow. I have nothing for her. Don't you hate when you get gifts from people you completely don't expect them from? I see her like 3 times a year.

You got a pair of Ray Bans and youre saying its a hard time?   :)

Yeah what a stupid asshole.  The holidays are about giving anyway.  I got my Secret Santa dude some cool stuff (cannot be revealed yet) and I got two presents for some cancer kids.  One was a Transformers Toy and the other was some sort of Super Spy Gear he wanted.  I also got my ex-girlfriend a TV and a buddy of mine the complete Wire series on DVD.  I feel pretty satisfied with this Christmas.

I was saying it's a hard time because none of my siblings, including me, could buy each other gifts this year, and I love getting my sisters and brother-in-law gifts.  I felt really bad about it.  Sorry if it came off as selfish.

edit: christ, it really did come off as selfish, fuck me.  I'm quite happy with what I got, my coat and shades are rad.  I just wish I could've been in a position to help out my parents by sharing the load and buying the rest of my family a few gifts and having an overall "fuller" Christmas, I guess.

Got some wireless headphones from the wife, much appreciated.

This Christmas has been tainted, though. Put together a neat package for the family back in Sweden, paid extra for express shipping so that it would for sure make it there before Christmas, and the trace stops at International Dispatch in Chicago where it got on the 11th. No trace of it in Swedish customs, so some god damn Grinch in Chicago took it. Probably the same lick of shit that stole an incoming Christmas present for my daughter three years ago. I guess they like toys and kid's clothes. FUCK. I don't normally wish unemployment on anyone, but I'm not letting this one slide with a simple reimbursement.

I got...

-every flavor of Kit Kat from Japan (haven't tried them yet - kind of want to make an event of it) :D
-arm warmers!!!!
-chocolate gift basket (oven mit set, homemade fudge, decorative platter, chocolate themed calendar, spatula, reed diffuser)
-gift basket (summer sausage, cheese, candy, crackers, mustard)
-moneyz
-pocket planner with gift receipt (the gift receipt is key here...)
-Inglorious Bastards BluRay and apparently THE best cookbook EVER (still en route from rodi)
-cheese grater, 4GB M2 card, Japanese lunch tote set, and thermally insulated picnic basket (my other sister can be random with her gift giving)
-tickets to King Tut exhibit at the de Young Museum and a day of fun with my best friend
-funky purple and black striped cashmere socks from Betsy Johnson (not a huge fan but I'm thinking this would be great for a Halloween costume!)

- Ratpadz mouse pad to replace the shitty fabric SteelSeries I have worn the top layers off of.
- New Balance shoes for comfortably standing 10 hours a day.
- Oblivion GOTY Edition for PC.
- a metric fuckton of gift cards.  Going today to purchase a 32gb Ipod Touch. I have realized that a ipod touch will do anything that I want a laptop for.

While I like it, I'm not a gigantic fan of that stuff.  But we watched an underwater episode while mum was still here and frankly I was blown away.

Even at Costco, it's still more expensive than American prices IIRC. A 750 ml bottle of Jack is like 40k won, right? All the hard-A is like that. It's funny how the drinks in bars are generally cheaper than the drinks in American bars, but the prices of bottles is much higher.

I think it was 36. Jack is 25-ish. Costco's liquor prices are pretty reasonable

Yes, I got them printed up for mum.  I ordered a trial print a while back and framed it myself - I'd never done it before but it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be.  And it's lots cheaper than having a shop do it of course.

Turns out that Samsung is a piece of shit. Exchanged it for a Sony, and it's still a better player than a PS3 and half the cost.

Doesn't change the fact that the PS3 picture quality over HDMI isn't as good as a standalone half the price. Samsungs just have shit build quality. You can buy a Sony for $125-$150 that completely destroys the PS3 as far as BRD playback goes.

I took back my duplicate Blu-rays to Best Buy today. I didn't have a receipt for Fight Club, so I was forced to get something that day of an equal value. After wandering around for an hour looking for anything that even remotely interested me, I ended up getting District 9 on Blu-ray. Everything I wanted was sold out, and I never saw the movie, so what the heck.

Manabyte is just trolling.  None of that really happened.

Nope the Samsung was a BDP1600. Took it back and exchanged it for a Sony BDP-s360. Same price and lacks netflix streaming, but build quality is better as is the firmware support.

Avoid the Samsung 1600. Best Buy had two other returns of it sitting in the Customer Service shelf when I took mine in. The Sony s360 is the same price and worth getting over it.
