Cursed Mountain Wii is pretty good

I got this as a gift and if you're a fan of plodding classic RE-style survival horror it's not bad at all.

+ actual widescreen, no stupid, stupid, stupid black bars
+ looks pretty nice for a Wii game - pre-baked shadows spice it up a bit and it has what I gather is volumetric fog (which is good, because there's a lot of fog)
+ voices sound fine
+ good atmosphere (abandoned villages on mountainsides thus far)
+ controls well, even the minimal motion control stuff works OK.  You use the pointer to shoot at enemies which works well.

- no quickturn.  Thus far I haven't found this too bad as enemies are generally slow, but you do have to adopt a "run away and turn around" tactics at times.
- a bit of motion control stuff, and it works as well as can be expected (ie, occasionally doesn't register).
- tank contols.  I don't mind them, but some might.  The camera does stay behind you.

I see reviews are in a similar range to Alone in the Dark but unlike that travesty this is pretty good.  Probably played about 3-4 hours.

I've heard the atmosphere in the game was top-notch. Can you comment on that? Furthermore, can you make a comparison between this title and Silent Hill: SM in terms of its theme, storyline, and pacing?

Still no mountain fan?  :teehee

And I haven't touched the game for months now. Won't bother anymore.

Alone in the Dark DECIMATES this garbage. How can you say you hve to be a fan of "RE-style" survival horror when this is the exact opposite? Enjoy fighting your ONE enemy every 20 minutes by zapping it with a laser beam. This game is a piece of shit Bildo.

I haven't played that Silent Hill sorry.  In terms of pacing it's much like a classic RE - you plod around and run into an enemy now and then.  Storyline is that your brother goes up a mountain and disappears, you go after him, run into enchanted items, some old witch-doctor woman, zombie-ghosts, flying abominations, etc.  As demi said in the other thread there aren't any obscure puzzles like RE, but I don't miss them.

I actually finished Alone in the Dark recently (PC version, which is the same as 360 version iirc) and it wasn't that bad with the exception of the root shit at the end.
