Reccomend me a (wired) mouse
« on: December 30, 2009, 09:11:49 AM »
At work I've been using this mouse with Back and Forward buttons on the side.
I really like the convenience this provides.

All I still want is an extra button on the mouse to map the F5 button to.

Can you guys recommend me a good wired mouse (I don’t want to mess with batteries) with a forward, back and an extra mapable button?

Logitech MX518

Their service is really great too. The first one I ordered had a bit too much stickiness in the mouse buttons, so they sent me a brand new one at no extra charge and I didn't have to return the old one.

Wow, that is one ugly mouse! Are there also versions for adults?

EDIT: Looks good otherwise.

I have the gray one, I don't think it looks bad.

i went from the mx518 (optical, great mouse) to the g9, a laser mouse

they made a newer version with a  higher dpi called g9x though, cant say it really needed it (its also like twice as much $)

the main difference i noticed between the two was i had had a habit of lifting the m518 when turning in fps games and recentering it and you cant lift a laser mouse or itll fuck up your aim, so i dropped that habit pretty quick

another good mouse between the two is the g5

edit: kind of rambling sorry

I have the G9 and it's pretty great.  At first it was weird because I had an mx510 (basically a crappy mx518, same form factor and everything) that I used for years and I guess that was considered a "palm" mouse or something.  The G9 has two grips, and the one that was more comfortable was the "claw" grip (uhhh) but it also had a "palm" grip.  Anyway, I got used to the claw grip and it's really nice.  All the programing nonsense you can put into the mouse seems useless but happens to be surprisingly handy.  Like, I have a Torchlight profile on the mouse that has 0 and 9 bound to the side mouse buttons.  Only real issue I have is that you need to really press down on the middle mouse button to activate it.
