Seems to be pretty good. Anyone else looking forward to Darksiders? Looks like GOTY 2010 already.

I'm interested because it's supposed to be a Zelda clone. It's out the same day as Bayonetta and I'm definitely picking that up over this, so either I'll rent this or pick it up in the future cheap.

I wonder why there aren't more Zelda clones. With the decline of the Zelda franchise, it probably wouldn't be that hard to ape Zelda and make it better.

Your first hour or so with the game might tell a different story though. In terms of scene-setting, it's a fairly uninspired blend of brown urban decay and repetitive button mashing that does little to quell unfavourable comparisons with other titles and certainly doesn't do the proceeding 15+ hours any justice. What that opening sprawl does do though is introduce you to the (very) basics of Darksiders' surprisingly robust fighting engine. While the game eventually opens up and starts doling out new weapons and increasingly elaborate moves in exchange for the souls you'll harvest from enemies along your travels, the actual mechanics of combat change very little throughout.

This, like Dante's Inferno, is another game I will think about checking out once it drops to a budget price, unless early-biting boritos say it's worth it now.

Well, this is just the beginning but so far i'm engaged, and will have a better idea of the game tomorrow.

The game first and foremost looks really good, the opening sequence is cinematic, and plays very much like a lighter god of war, and controls like Zelda i guess.

Anyway, the gameplay serves the introduction, and it begins pretty much in Metroid fashion. There's seven seals, you War shouldn't be where you are, shit hits the fan, nobody really understands why apocalypse is happening, city gets wrecked, you wreck some bitches in full on power mode and then start losing your powers. Story seems pretty interesting! Helped by some pretty looks!

Also you have this watcher, that is kinda like in Vampire Hunter D, where the dude has a face in his hand that is its own entity! Voiced by the same dude as Joker in Batman. Seems pretty neat.

This is very engaging stuff so far, but i'm surprised because productions values seem pretty high for a game i know almost nothing about....i wonder if it's all wasted in the opening of the game.

Brutal Legend also opens great and then changes into this sort of RTS game...we'll see tomorrow!

Ever read any X-Men comics from the mid-late 90's that had an anime-style to them? Or read Age Of Apocalypse? Or remember the cover to the shitty PSOne beat-em-up, Gekido? That's Madureira. IIRC he's also been criticized for ~~ripping off~~ being influenced by a lot of Japanese video game art work.

I asked on the gaf thread and I don't think there is a finite answer yet. Allegedly the 360 version has bad tearing, and while the PS3 version doesn't have that problem, it has bad aliasing.

I've installed the game on the HDD. Going to play tomorrow. Can't wait.

A Dutch TV magazine(lol) gave this game a 5/5 score. Just read the review today. They sounded very positive, saying the game lets you explore and has a lot of content in it. FFXIII owned.

Now people are saying both versions have aliasing problems while the PS3 version doesn't have tearing. The game is out in Europe already and it's still not clear. Actually having to make a choice rather than going 360 for everything is annoying $:-\$

Joe Mad is hardly alone in "Marvel artists heavily influenced by anime/manga" - shit, that's basically the '90s in their entirety, and it's particularly obvious in retrospect that artists who were "ahead of their time" in that era were aping it the same way that others were aping the original cinema coming out of Hong Kong in the '80s.

I could go for a non-Nintendo Zelda. I tried to like Okami while my 360 was being repaired in 2008, but it was just too much of a jump backward in graphics technology. (I know, I know...) Hopefully it has more Zelda than God-of-War in its DNA.

True, but they are doing some neat things with the PS3 version that help fix some fuck ups with the system. Like, the game has a mandatory install that runs as you play the game, so no install screen or anything. It's just weird to see anyone put effort into the PS3, especially after Grin did that and it didn't exactly pay off for them.

I'd imagine that the system has become less of a pain with additional tools and knowledge from Sony, and others. I have no idea how any of it works, but maybe some games just benefit from what the system does well? As for GRIN, they were always into the tech bits; one of their first games was essentially a Geforce 3 demo, and GRAW was pretty demanding, and rewarding of good hardware.

So the game remains the same, but each ability you learn carries a new function in the gameplay and how you traverse through the world.

Game oozes style, looks amazing, and the story keeps you interested.

This game is so beatiful....

..when you stand still. It's a trainwreck in motion. One of the worst tearing I've ever seen.

I'm almost 5 hours in and the game has been pretty great so far. The gameplay reminds me a bit of GoW and Soul Reaver. The levels/dungeons, however, remind me of Zelda.
The last dungoun I cleared in this game >>>> all Wind Waker and Twilight Princess dungeons COMBINED

It's too bad about the tearing. Some of the environments look almost as good as Uncharted 2. The art direction is terrific.

No one knows it's coming. And the few that know will wait for Dante's Inferno or/and GoW3.

It's a shame. Darksiders is probably better than Dante's Inferno.
