a loot game with 10,000 enemies who never respawn?
I think that's pretty much how this series of games has been from the start.
That is correct. I bought the original off GoG and it sounds exactly like what Prole is describing. It is very easy to fuck yourself over because you can't afford potions and health doesn't regenerate and there are no monsters that you are able to kill.
Speaking of which, how open ended Divinity 2? I almost felt that Divine Divinity was too open ended and I was aimlessly wandering around for hours making zero progress.
It's really not that hard. You can always find some monsters that will be a fair challenge to you and will allow you to level up.
For your information, you can sleep to regenerate health, and once you save the wizard in the first village he'll heal you for free as many times as you want.
I think that if DivDiv would've had regenerating enemies on top of that, it would have been just too overwhelming.
DivDiv is one of my favorite games of all time, I loved almost everything about it. Beautiful 2D sprites, vast open world, tons of secrets, some really original sidequests, good accessibility, great humor and one-liners among others. The game never takes itself seriously and it's so amusing to explore new corners of the map to discover what hilarious encounter you're going to have next. It's a full-fledged RPG as well as a mindless slasher. Most of all, it's got amazing loot! I never get crazy over loot in any game, yet in this game I did. I spent hours and hours grinding just to get new cool stuff from the dwarf blacksmith.
I used to get into the more dangerous zones with a freezing sword and I'd kill incredibly powerful monsters who were way beyond my current level. Though sometimes I'd hit like 1 times out of 15 since I invested all my stat points in strenght and had almost no dex.

Divinity 2 is a much smaller and shorter game, but I'm still hyped as fuck about it. I pre-ordered it on Impulse and I can't wait.
