I think the discrepancy here is how much you need new content or multiple entries in a single genre.  I'm usually okay with one solid genre entry with good replay value.  I'm assuming those who hate the wii feel that because everyone isn't releasing videogame staples every month its not doing its job.  I guess what is missing is an original fps, quality hack and slash action game, and rpgs.
... and shmups
... and fighting games

hmmmm, maybe I haven't thought about this enough.

at which point, these transparent idiots will discover a newfound interest in the concept altogether, no doubt

Sure, why not? While an underpowered shit system based on curious controls and little other value is of course a piece of shit, there's nothing wrong with add-on devices to excellent systems; power and waggle, that could be alright. And even if it isn't, the systems are still awesome, as opposed to the critically shitty Wii platform. Hell, maybe we can finally get that elusive first person shooter enhanced by 3d pointer tech. Good looks and wacky controls, maybe that's fun.

Yes, they could copy the Big N to help rejuvenate their godawful hardware and software sales (relative to those of Nintendo), but even if a few latent mongrels such as yourself learn to covet the newly retrofitted Nintendo-born concept, it'll fail horribly and both machines will be perceived as jokes by the populace (again). I mean, say what you want about the two HD consoles but the people have already spoken, and if I could rephrase an old adage, "Garbage perceived is garbage achieved."

I'm a little confused by the other two fanboys.  Why are you guys reacting like its a personal attack?  Did you install your ego into the wii the day you got it?  I get a big boner for Nintendo too but I don't see why people not liking it isn't allowed.  Seriously, try some xbox live at someone elses place.  Go to a store and see how bad the wii looks on demo station lcds.  Its completely understandable that if audiovisuals and a streamlined online experience are your preference the Wii wasn't designed for those affinities.

EmCeeGrammar, I own a Wii and a 360. I don't need to do any comparison browsing. When I have friends over, we play the Wii... and we play the 360.

Thanks for your input though.

Because the groupthink is embarrassing and sickening. I'm pretty sure Third has never even picked up a Wiimote in his life (I'll need photographic evidence for confirmation) but he's in every fucking Ninty thread making sure everyone knows how much the Wii sucks. Is there anyone even left whose mind isn't already made up regarding the Wii?

I, for one, am not taking it personal. If other members here can troll in opposition to the Wii, I can "troll" in favor of it. This ain't a one-song party!

Capcom: Less Wii After Darkside Chronicles Sells Only 16k

French Director General says the audience for hardcore games has left the building.

Looks like everyone's New Year Resolution is to avoid the Wii. The Director General of Capcom France, Antoine Seux, has suggested that the opportunity for 'hardcore' games has dried up following disappointing sales of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. This comes as Seux announces that the company will be focusing more on PS3 and Xbox 360 development.

In a lengthy and revealing interview with French website Gamekult (via our wonky translator), Seux states that development on “the Wii was very difficult, with an oversupply [of games] and a gamer market that has radically changed. [So-called “gamer's games”] are selling less and less on the console, [be it] MadWorld or Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop or House of the Dead: Overkill.”

Capcom's recent on-rails shooter, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, sold a total of only 16,000 units after three weeks on sale by 23rd December 2009. In contrast Seux notes that Resident Evil 4 sold 140,000 units back at its release in June 2007. The problem, he suggests, is the change in audience. “One feels that there is a problem very clear on this style of game on the Wii, where gamers have obviously moved on. Resident Evil 4 on Wii worked well, but [it was released] when the market had nothing!”

“The customer of [the Wii] has turned into something [of a] much broader audience. It is a disappointment,” says Seux, who feels that the only chance to get a game noticed on the platform is to support it with “massive advertising campaigns” such as Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

It's a surprising statement from one of the most loyal supporters of the Wii. Just a few years ago Capcom had gone so far as to switch development of its long-awaited Monster Hunter Tri from PlayStation 3 to Nintendo's platform, while titles such as Zack and Wiki and the Okami remake failed to grab as many gamers as the company would have hoped. Darkside Chronicles' lack of sales is a stark contrast to the success of its predecessor, The Umbrella Chronicles.

“This is the year of the emergence of so-called 'new console generation',” Seux concludes, referring to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. “The Wii is still an important part of sales, but growth is on both [Sony and Microsoft's] platforms. The Wii console is very much a family commitment... for us, Capcom, the future is the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.”

Seux's interview follows comments from Sega America's Constantine Hantzopoulos on a price cut for Nintendo's console, whilst in the same podcast declaring an end to developing 'hardcore games' like MadWorld and House of the Dead on the platform. Michael Pachter today went on record to predict a sales slump for the Wii in 2010.

There is some truth to this yes.  But I think prole summed it up pretty nicely when he said
"of COURSE no-one here likes nintendo, jesus fmodding christ, this is a forum loosely packed with virgins and weeaboos and internet ragers and wannabe hipsters and emofags and god-only-knows what kinda syndrome methodis has and GOOD GOD WILLCO. you can't pull the self-righteous YER ALL SELF-HATING FATS ANYWAY card in the forum equivalent of bumfuck, montana, unless you're so fucking clueless that you missed all the signs on the road into town"

So either just start making an alt for gaf or just ... I dunno, deal.

edit: I think the main problem is that the threads you've made aren't about specific games, but rather serve the function of validating Nintendo.  That's just how I see it.

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
Ōkami
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars
Monster Hunter G
Monster Hunter Tri

Left the DEFINITE keepers. Surprisingly it's not too varied. But don't forget Mega Man 9. Some like that, and Ace Attorney is coming, too. So they've given it a serious effort. But if you look at Super Street Fighter IV, Dark Void, Lost Planet 2 and others, they're putting the BIG shit on the HD consoles and PC. (Even Steam!) Capcom has never been one to discriminate.

I still feel bad for Rock Band and Guitar Hero players on the Wii. It's the worst clusterfuck of failed interoperability I've ever seen.

copied this list of capcom wii games from wikipedia, might be missing some (?)

...

how much of that is actually worth a fuck?

Let me re-arrange and correct this list:

Ports-

-Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition- This is the best version of RE4 I've played overall (have not played it on PC with all the mods available).  The Wiimote used a pointer for shooting works really well, although it does tend to make the game easier than before, since it's so easy to get headshots.  The image quality is not as good as the GC version (expected), but you do get GC-quality visuals with the extra features/modes from the PS2 port, plus you can always play with a GC or classic controller if you don't want to use the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo.

-Ōkami- Have yet to play this on either system; I recently bought it on PS2.  Why?  Because the Wii port has downgraded visuals and that stupid waggle-wave crap for combat.  No thanks.

-Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil- Haven't played this; read that it didn't look as good as the GC version (again due to IQ issues), so I never bothered since I have it on GC.

-Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop- What were they thinking?   :lol :yuck

-Monster Hunter G- Ported from PS2 or PSP, I forget which.  With Tri out in Japan, who cares?  Doubtful this will ever come out in English anyway.

-Resident Evil Zero (Now out in the States)-Just like RE, it's the same game with worse image quality.  You can play with the Wiimote/Nunchuk if that means anything.

-Sengoku Basara 2+Heroes (This game was released as a double-pack)- I love Basara 2/Heroes!  It's Capcom's wacky version of Samurai Warriors, and it's done much, much better IMO.  Very over the top and crazy for a musou title.  Basara 2 is the full game; Heroes is an expansion pack with a few new characters.  What's nice about the Wii version is that you can transfer save data back and forth between the two games (which you'd want to do for items/money earned), and all the characters are unlocked from the start in the original Basara 2.  I own this game on both PS2 and Wii; I thought that the 2P split-screen play in Heroes was smoother on the Wii version, but the PS2 version looks sharper and has better graphics overall.  At this point, I wouldn't bother with Basara 2, since Basara 3 is coming out in a few months...on Wii and PS3.  The PS3 version not only will look much better, but will also offer online co-op.  Easy choice as to which to get.

Original games-

-Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure- Never played it.

-Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles- Rail-shooter version of RE, featuring abridged/retconned scenarios from RE0, RE1, RE3, and one original scenario.  Has frame rate and some control issues; hard to play but still kind of worth it if you are a big RE fan.

-Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles- Improves on UC's flaws and is more enjoyable, although it's not going to be the game of choice if you want a pure arcade-style light gun shooter (stick to Ghost Squad for that).  Features scenarios from RE2 and Code: Veronica, plus an original scenario that is sort of like a "prequel" to RE4.

-We Love Golf!- It's a typical Minna No Golf clone.  I remember most people here not liking it, but I thought it was fun.

-Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars- Fun Vs. game with a similar play style to Capcom's Marvel games.  It's a two-on-two tag fighter.  Has a somewhat small roster and balance issues, but some characters are just plain BORING to use (the two big guys, who also cannot partner with anyone).  Has Dreamcast-level graphics, but great style and there's a few nice backgrounds and BGM tracks in there.  This is all based on the original game, which is not coming out outside of Japan; Ultimate All-Stars, hitting later this month, is an upgraded version, addressing the balance/character flaws, adding additional characters, adding new music, and also adding in online play.  I'm pretty pumped for it.

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/tatsunokovscapcom/video/6244927/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ultimate-all-stars--dropping-pelicans-gameplay-movie

-Spyborgs- Haven't played it.

-Monster Hunter Tri- It's more Monster Hunter.  I will get this if the American version has free online play, otherwise forget it.

But Mega Man 9 is a multi-platform game and Ace Attorney is just ported from DS (which was ported from GBA and has also been ported to PC and is also coming to iPhone/iTouch).

The Capcom-published golf game was developed by Camelot, the people that MADE the original MnG.

Still wish the series was bigger or had a more recent update. I played the FUCK out of them.

I didn't think it was a list of exclusives, just efforts Capcom has made on the console.

Yeah, I know Camelot made it.  A lot of people seemed to dislike it for some reason that I cannot remember.  The U.S. version was supposed to have been improved upon and they added online play to it; I have the Japanese version.

"OH NOES BIONIC COMMANDO ISN'T SELLING AND IT'S ALL UNCHARTED FAULTS!"

it's like they don't want anything to do with the wii but they need some sort of excuse, didn't capcom recently said they won't work with western developer anymore after bionic commando? it's like capcom can't do anything wrong,it's always somebody else fault

Yeah, not like GRIN took a great license and made a barely average game out of it.

the fun thing is watching Ninthings point out that all 3rd parties have to do is "appeal to the casuals.... and the hardcore" , whilst pointing to Epic Mickey being superbig budget so everyone should just grab a massive franchise/icon, make a game about it , and sit and watch the "guaranteed" sales come rolling in.

Yeah, it's THAT simple. Just figure out how to appeal to two mindsets and bet the farm on your game.

The swinging was imprecise in Japan. Then in America they made it laughably easier.

i agree no side knows. it's a completely weird complex X factor thing that no one can figure out. What makes Carnival Games sell whilst Dead Space bombs etc etc.

Actually, even funnier than the above : watching Wiimps go on about wanting a REAL dead Rising , a REAL FF game, a REAL Resident Evil, a REAL dead space...

... sounds like they want an X360 to me. Why did they buy a Wii if they wanted those games?  ??? ??? ???

Because sales number dictate that they should be getting all those games?

I have no fucking clue.

I'm fine with the Wii trolling, personally but one issue have to inquire about: Why do the same people who complain about Wii being ancient, shitty tech simultaneously complain that there aren't enough games being made for it? I mean, isn't that a good thing? Hell, I wouldn't even want Mario and Zelda to appear on the Wii if it weren't for the annoying little fact that, well, you know...

So either just start making an alt for gaf or just ... I dunno, deal.

What? You mean either except the status quo here or re-register on GAF under a new nick and hide among the masses like a roach? I'm not down with either, man. My days posting on GAF are done and this is my new home. I doubt the creators of this community wanted this place to be nothing more than a hub for Nintendo-hating lemmings; I'm to assume that it was originally designed to be a loosely moderated forum for all sorts of boisterous fans.

You don't like it? Kiss my ass you don't like it, I'm still here.
