I love KFC. It's  my favorite fastfood restaurant. I'm not black though. I think.

Since you like KFC more than Popeye's, you aren't.

Holland doesn't have Popeye chains, as far as I know. I'm interested. Germany seems to have Popeye's.
I might go check it out.

The best part of the Popeye's video is that after all these poor people in run-down cars have shouted, some well-off black dude in an SUV wearing a tie comes up and is like, "What? There is no fried chicken? An outrage, I will contact the manager of this establishment."

That Korean commercial makes me curious. I mean, do they even know about the stipulation/stereotype that blacks have a hard on for chicken? That stereotype appears to be a western culture stereotype; I'm sure they don't even know about that. Or are they saying that the scary savages (ie: blacks) can easily be thwarted off with fried chicken in case they try to rape (or in some cases eat) fellow Koeans? Or is there no racial implication at all and is it purely an innocent comedic commercial?

I hate ads like that, not because they're offensive, but  the fact I never know what their message is.

@ Crushed - Funnilly enough, we had KFC just the other day. I was wondering why we didn't have Popeyes as usual, but this KFC chicken was almost as good. I don't think I've ever had KFC chicken as good as what I had the other day.

A little known fact about black people (I'm an expert) is that they're also quite fond of BBQ chicken.  Especially with some "stubbs BBQ sauce" which is absolutely delicious.

Black Americans act self-righteous around Black Africans. Like there's this whole "We were slaves for hundreds of years! We went through more torment than you!" kinda thing. It's really dumb. What's funny is that the people who can't accept that there are different kinds of black people are Black Americans themselves.

There was this one thread on gaf that covers this very subject, with observations from REAL African Americans (as in, people who are from Africa and moved to America). It was about interracial dating and how often black men date outside their race. Great topic.

You dumbass. It's not racist since there isn't a connotation between West Indian 'blacks' and fried chicken like there is between African-Americans and fried chicken.

yes, the korean video is debatable.

wat.

It is debatable that the Korean ad is racist.

For Koreans, it may not mean much. Do we know every single thing about Korean culture? Likewise, do you think Koreans actively know that blacks are (stupidly) stereotyped to be weak in the knees for fried chicken? It's all cultural. I'll concede it's somewhat racially insensitive, but racist is entirely debatable. I'm considering Korean culture here. I know that they can be racist just as anyone else, but I'm not seeing as much racial connotation when a Korean man hands out magic fried chicken to a bunch of island people as I do a white man handing out a bunch of fried chicken to a bunch of black people at a sporting event to calm them down, finishing it off with a,"Too easy." There's history with white people stereotyping that black people like fried chicken and are mindless animals; for the average American there really isn't when it comes to Korean people, they probably don't even know about the stereotype and thought it was innocent.

Because something appears to be racially charged does not make it racist!

Americans are stupid. When did all black people = African Americans?
UFC fighter Rampage Jackson had an interesting insight on this, but I'll have to paraphrase: "I'm black. Screw it, I'm black; I'm done messing around with 'African-American' and that. The other day, I met this guy, he was white. He'd immigrated to the USA from South Africa. So he is an African American. Here is this white guy who is an African-American. So I'm black."

It's also gotta be weird in the UFC, because there are so many black fighters who are not African, and not American. French, Canadian, British... but do any of those nationalities identify as African-Canadian, African-French, and such?
