Yeah, accelerometer control in the ipod touch isn't much fun.  I need my waggle and output display separated.

You guys are being silly.  Its probably just going to be an accelerometer used for tilt like with the ipod games.  Its still going to suck but don't expect to be waving your system around.

Every game will be controlled by waving your system around confirmed.

It hasn't been said what the motion controls will consist of, so to say it will be just iPhone tilt is just as baseless as saying it will be twirling and whirling.

Nintendo's made several motion control games for handhelds, and they all involved tilt. Miyamoto said years ago that he wanted a gyroscope in the original DS. There are now major players in the portable markets with tilt controls.

Yeah, it's not quite "baseless."

Quote
a sensor that can read the movements of the player.

That doesn't sound like tilting and if it was tilting, why not just say that instead of being all vague? Unless it was something unique and never done before.

Because it's a Japanese translation, which tends to turn simple phrases like "better graphics" into stuff like, "the quality and definition of the visuals will be of a new standard."

You don't think it's possible they'll take it one step further, especially to one up Apple?

It's possible, but it's Nintendo we're talking about here, so "one step further" will just be a tilt sensor and probably also two barely upgraded DSi cameras.

All I hope is that it's light. I actually like my DS, but having the blow on the thing is already embarrassing enough.  :-\

I can't help but laugh at all the fools who fell for Nintendo's trap and actually bought the DSi.

DSi is the worst stop gap device ever.

knowing Nintendo this will fail in some way to compete with an iPhone.

My excuse is that this was the Japanese launch, so nobody knew how useless of an upgrade it would be!

So basically what Nintendo is saying is that DS2 will be as powerful as one and a half Gamecube.

So basically it will be *less* powerful than iPhone 3G which is already less poweful than two Gamecubes duct taped together.

PSP2 will annihilate this shit.

Don't worry Sony will find a way to gimp it.The only way that Sony can interest me in buying PSP2 is PS2 games playable on it,otherwise they can stick it where sun doesn't shine.

I'd buy a HD DS. I expect it to be less "HD" than the PSP, though.

Any serious DS successor will be accompanied by any one of the multi-million selling DS IPs, so it's safe to assume that it will be successful out of the gate. Sony on the other hand would have to provide Capcom some serious head job to get them to release a MH game side-by-side with Sony's future one-trick-pony PSP successor, since that's the only software that actually sells on that pitiful machine.

Wii is their state of the art console though.

Nintendo doesn't do state of the art.  They do novelty machines.  Hmm delicous novelty :d
