Steam achievements are the EXACT FUCKING SAME as the 360/PS3 ones.

No they're not... they're terrible

- not every game has them (HUGE issue), while every single 360 game and even XBLA games have them
- there's no cumulative score so nobody gives a shit
- you can't easily see your friends scores.. because 1.) they don't have scores and 2.) they're hidden inside the community tab that people rarely visit.  Compare this to Xbox Live and how achievements are front row and center... from the friends blade to the mini dashboard, to the top right of the damn screen.  You can so easily compare your achievements with your friends.. it's encouraged

Infinity Ward is still around, and working on something, even though it has suffered significant staff departures beyond West and Zampella. But Sledgehammer Games, run by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, formerly of EA's Visceral Games unit, is the wildcard. The group is working on a FPS Call of Duty game, something Activision publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg implied on last week's earnings call would be next up.

"This [next] Call of Duty title will be first-person shooter, just to make sure there's no misunderstanding there," he said, without directly mentioning Sledgehammer.

That unit hasn't talked specifically about what it's doing with the franchise. But industry sources say Sledgehammer's Call of Duty will be set in the future and feature, for lack of a better term, space Marines, a very big step for a franchise that has historically based itself on realism.

HOLY FUCK @ the campaign...the second mission (the prison break) is absolutely insane.  NO OTHER GAME does intense immersion and scripted sequences like Call of Duty.  The story's actually interesting too...fucking incredible.  Shit's all over the competition.  The production values are through the roof... other shooter campaigns feel like boring uneventful shit compared to this.  Here there's just non-stop intensity and incredible set pieces.  I'm blown away.  Graphics are awesome too (1080p res, all settings maxed).

The multi-player definitely has a world at war feel. Which is different than MW 2. Its slower and more deliberate in that manner.

IW definitely has the superior graphics engine not that this looks awful or anything by console standards and considering the frame rate.

I don't think that's actually the case. I believe I read that essentially Treyarch used the enhanced WaW engine. Either way I can tell you it doesn't look as good as MW 2. Not that it matters or anything. The gameplay is the most important thing.

I ordered this because there was a good deal and someone mentioned that multiplayer was slower paced than MW2.  I'll try not to play it until after finals are done, but that never works out.

IW is(was) pretty protective about their stuff,no love there.There are some really impressive looking levels later in the game though.

Some of the people I was playing online with were saying its really hard on Veteran. Mainly due to the respawning enemies parts where you have to just run to a checkpoint.

Can't say myself. I'm playing on Hardened. And maybe later I'll do a Veteran run after I hear how bullshit or not it is.

Modern Warfare 2 had it good, but it felt really cheese apart from a few spots. World at War was just straight bullshit. I ripped out all my pubes when I finally raised that soviet flag.
