Do you guys really like seeing pseudo-celebs plugging non-books? I can't stand that shit. It's particularly irritating on the Daily Show, because it takes up half the otherwise top-notch show. Worse, they admit that the only reason they have guests on is because they can't write actual comedy fast enough. Just have a shorter show and make it more awesome then, jeez.

By contrast, we're told Jay Leno's deal specifically guarantees his 10:00 PM time period, so the network must negotiate a new deal with him before he moves back to 11:35 PM. NBC did guarantee that Conan would host "The Tonight Show," and the network has been willing to make good on that promise. As for Conan's legal position, his claim is a lot more tenuous than first reported to us. We're told Conan is arguing -- given the history of "The Tonight Show" -- there is an "implied" guarantee the show would begin at 11:35. Our sources say Conan's people met with NBC execs yesterday afternoon ... presumably to negotiate a settlement and an out. Some of the high level people who oversee "The Tonight Show" are saying Conan has himself to blame -- at least in part -- for his failure. They say he refused to take notes from his bosses, saying "I do what I do."

I don't get why people throw around the masturbating bear, never really found it that funny and I'm a pretty big Conan fan. I'm hardly emotionally invested in how this turns out but it was great to see Conan get the tonight show after watching him for the past.. 10 years now I guess. The talkshow responses to this have been amazing too

Even before I found out the internet hate for Leno when I was 12 I still disliked him because he would force me to watch either his show or some other shit at that time so I could watch Conan. I remember at one point the comedy channel (Australian cable channel that airs the tonightshow/late night) actually swapped Leno and Conan around so Leno would follow Conan which was pretty awesome.
