FACT: USUALLY 30 DOLLARS

FACT: LOTS OF GAMES AT LAUNCH

The simple truth is that this system is about FUN over GRAPHICS. The Wii's hardware focus is all about the cutting edge and graphic power when in reality they should be focusing on making the games innovative and fun. Atari's Flashback 2 machine does all that for 30 dollars, compared to the overpriced Wii.

Also note the lack of SOLID titles at Wii launch vs the titles Atari Flashback offers right out of the box. Yar's Revenge, Combat, and Missile Command to NAME A FEW.

I predict Japan will drop the Wii like a bad habit.

The best part about all of this is MAF and Drinkys online persona. I know you all own Wiis and pretend to hate on it because that is your character, but what are you going to do when the Wii has the populatiry of the DS? Still hate on it? I would get mad at you guys for all the Wii hate if i didnt know you werent being serious.

I actually didn't get one until a few months after the launch, and at a deal that puts the cost of the wii to shame. Plus I love me some PGR3, Oblivion and GRAW. Generally takes three games to make me buy a console. Wii needs three games to come out that I want for me to get it.

PS3 is under the same conditions, honestly. Both Wii and PS3 are getting a year to develop some kind of library beyond what their fanboys like.

I only like the Oracle Zelda games and Minish Cap, I hate Smash brothers, but Mario could be interesting as I liked Sunshine a lot. So that's 1 game down.

Oh I know I will, but i'll choose when and where. I said i'd get a DS when a MM Zero game made it to the system, and I got one shortly after MM ZX was announced.

The wii is still exploitable using the gamecube backwards compatibility( action replay& sd loader), thus wii can play any atari game flawlessly.

Ergo, Wii > Atari Flashback.

Dude, that Atari Flashback is THIRTY BUCKS.

What I wonder about is if the Wii is going to end up like the GC, with only the Nintendo stuff being what's worth getting and fewer and fewer third party releases. I don't like that. :/

Me neither. Plus I'd rather play Super Mario Bros., Ice Hockey, R-Type, etc. on Wii's VC than any of those Atari 2600 games.

^^^ Totally agree. About the only ones that still hold up are Kaboom! and Warlords (multiplay) .. and you need paddles for them.

Which goes to show that unique controllers (waggle waggle) can make certain games timeless.

Some of the arcade games still hold up IMO, but the old consoles, especially the 2600, are just awful. There are very few games from that time on consoles I can go back and play.

That's why Sega Master System is the console to beat for the next 5-7 years.

It's got great games in every genre, is as affordable as the flashback, yet can stand toe-to-toe with the Wii in terms of power.

Once people finish Zelda, they'll go back to playing Phantasy Star and realize it's just a better game. Same with Alex Kidd after Mario comes out, after the traditional drought that Nintendo likes to impose on its misguided fans.
