I'm with Himuro, this show has actually made tangible progress in terms of character arcs this season - unlike the will they/won't they antics combined with the goofy fun that occurred on a weekly basis.

What I miss is Season 2's budget.

Season 2 had a good budget, and while season 2 had a lot of great stuff, season 3 has had zero fluff thus far. The first two episodes were meh and average at best, but aside from that every episode has brought something to the table and the drama and storytelling is a lot better this season as well.

Since Im banned at GAF and cant post there, lulz, I must say that I think that aside from Vs The Colonel (second last ep of S2), I thought this was the single best episode of the series. Everything clicked for me, I thought it hit all the right emotional and comical beats, and the Chuck/Sarah stuff was actually fun for once. So good. Much better than the overhyped and overrated episode from last week.

I dont agree with that. I still greatly prefer S2 overall. However, this last episode was as good as any in the series, and I really enjoy the development of the central characters this year. Right now 2 > 3 > 1.

Hate is far too strong a word, but I really didnt like tonight's episode at all. Sad, coming off last week's fantastic episode. The subplot was completely lame, Jeff and Lester's stuff felt forced and was for the first time not funny at all. Top it off with some patented Chuck/Sarah angst.

I thought started off slow, but the last thirty minutes were great aside from the Chuck/Sarah stuff. But what I really liked was the Casey/Chuck interaction and Chuck's red test.

Next week looks terrible, though. Dawkson's Burbank! Who will Sarah choose?!

Im mostly finding that the formula and their absolutely refusal to abandon it is finally starting to be a deal breaker for me this year. It was fun in S1, I tolerated it in S2 because everything else was so good, but now, Im tired of it. Yes, there has undoubtably been some great development for Chuck's character this season, but its increasingly surrounded by elements of the show that feel stale and no longer work for me. Im not-so-secretly hoping this is the final season. The recent ratings would seem to support that wish, but the mess that is NBC means no show is truly dead.

I've gone on record saying that I too hope it's the final season, but not due to quality concerns. It's mostly that I don't want Chuck to be one of those shows where it's in the middle of its season only to get cancelled half way with no resolution in sight.

I've dug this season. I thought tonight's episode was solid, and all the Subway stuff had me rolling. Was definitely a drop from last week's quality, though. Still, Chuck.

Also, I'm with Himuro. I don't worry about the quality, I worry about getting stuck with a lame cliffhanger.

I thought it was an alright ep, but probably my least liked episode in the whole series. I'm just glad we're not finally past Chuck x Sarah x Shaw and back into awesome land.

The twist felt very Chuck-like to me; it was about as par for the course in terms of the series.

I thought the special effects were better than last season's with the predator drone.

The pyrotechnics is where I felt the budget cuts. :'(

... Otherwise, I thought it was a pretty awesome episode. Morgan + Awesome + Casey = best spy team ever. Jeffster's professional stalking made me laugh. I also loved Chuck fumbling at the CIA headquarters with his gun.

Well, it was originally supposed to be, and it still felt like it, too.

*shrugs* I don't have as many problems with this season as many other people do, other than the fact that it seems the budget reduction has caused them to throw out a lot of exotic location shoots. Now it always feels like closed crappy studio shoots.

Yeah, that's my only real issue with Season 3, which I have dug. I think Season 2 ended so strong that people forgot that there was a good two-thirds that was as good or arguably inferior to Season 3.

Nothing this season has been as good as that late season run, but they production crew seems to be talking up the last six episodes. I will be kind of bummed if it ends on some cliffhanger, because it doesn't look like its getting picked up.

And as if to prove me right that the season was a waste, it ends with resetting the show to the exact state it was when it ended last year

It hasn't reseted to the end of last year, wtf are you talking about. Most of Chuck's friends know about him now, Sarah has out-right come out with ehr feeling for him, they're together, and Shaw is dead. I think it's wrapped up most of last year's questions quite well, other than where the fuck his dad has been. Which seems to be being dealt with in the next few eps.

I still find it quite humorous, as well.

Whoops. Spoiled, oh well, I should watch it now anyways. It's up on hulu. He couldn't live after this season anyways, not the way the plot was going.
