Is WoW Killing Porn?

One of the strangest challenges porn faces is competition from online games like World of Warcraft, though the connection may at first seem random. "It is all entertainment that you are getting involved in the same way as porn is entertainment," said Aiden. "I won't say everyone, but a lot of people in the industry play videogames. The games are competition for porn. Fans jerk off to porn and are done, but you can keep playing a game."

When they say "people in the industry" do they mean pornstars play videogames? Aren't they too busy doing coke?

Wouldn't the prevalence of free video sites be an even bigger challenge?

This. Seems these days, all porn is free. I often forget people still pay money for the shit.

What's changed? It's not as if people kept watching porn after they jerked-off before WoW.

Maybe he feels that they both count as interactive entertainment?  Of course one is about stats and loots and the other is about squirting your baby juice.

I don't get this. I don't jerk as much as I used to, but when I do it's like a 20min affair; mainly because I browse lots of videos and Craigslist for kicks. I do it around 2am or so after homework. Then I watch Lost or play WoW

Who spends hours watching porn?

But that way they'd still be users of porn, the same way people play free flas games.

I think the issue the guy is talking about is that people are no longer jerking it to anything and playing WoW instead.

Um, what? Even at my most extreme WoWing I still had plenty of time scheduled away for wacking off. It was always a nice treat after a shitty raid or some disappointing arena

In seriousness, there are still only 24 hours a day. Anything that counts as entertainment is competing with everything else in the category.
