To the total layperson (me) it seems like a team of public servants could get things happening quicker than this.  WTF goes on in Polyphony?

It's this simple: As long as they insist on doing it all in Japan, and Kaz creams off most of the cash, it's going to take forever. They could hire a few hundred extra staff, but they won't do that because they want the money. They are too proud to outsouce the modelling on the cheap though, which is how Turn 10 etc does it.

Not just to western devs...lots of games that are listed as Square-Enix developed (say) are actually done entirely by other firms who are only credited in the small print. Many other games outsource art assets etc too.

How can you blame Sony really? You know how many people they'd probably have to add to get those other 800 cars to the same level? I'm surprised we're getting as much as we are for $60. And I love to harp on companies, demanding more from them. Even I can push my differences aside and say "whew, I get to play the game this year, not in 2019".

I mean, we're getting 1000+ cars, tons of tracks, two racing licenses, crazy photo modes, and who knows what else is stuffed in there.

This game is one of the few times I ever felt I'm getting my money, if not, more than my money's worth out of.

I'm glad premium cars are super cars and cars that you will NEVER get to drive in your life. I wanna experience how these car drive, how the interior looks, etc etc. If I needed to see them do 200 interiors of Honda and Toyota, I'll just go to a car dealer and see them for myself.

HOLY SHIT...GO-KARTING CONFIRMED IN GOD TURISMO 5!!
Also and option to create and share tracks.

Quote
Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect - even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo. Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.

These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual.

This time around Gran Turismo is likely not just to be the definitive driving experience but a definitive gaming experience full stop.

Turd 10 should just stop making Forza games right now. It's over.

Actually, given the horrendous sales performance of both Forza 2 and Forza 3, I wouldn't be surprised if Forza 4 was their last outing.

Forza 2 is about 4 million sold and Forza 3 is between 3.5-4 million.

And before you mention bundles, that is how GT sells in Europe...and that is one of the reasons why you see 5:1 ratios between EU an US
Second one is that racing was(is) popular in EU much more than in US.

Actually they don't...Chart Track UK data has Forza 3 at 600k in March...check their awards,I don't think that any PS3 game except COD and GTA is even close to that.

That is the only "real" number that you can get from EU...The rest is just like in any other game, shipped units...sold for them,PR thing
But if you can give us full EU GFK data, please do...

Stop reading VG charts

Actually they do. Your claim was Forza 3 has sold between 3.5 to 4 million, correct?

Your numbers for Forza 3 UK are 600k as of March, correct?

Forza 3 has yet to sell a million in the North America region. Forza 3 has failed to chart in other EU regions for a long long while, in fact, the only region where the game has sold more than 300k is indeed the UK.

Stop believing Che Chou's numbers, they're bad for your image  :lol

Ensemble is the only studio you could really make that argument for but since Microsoft doesn't give a shit about PC gaming anymore and Ensemble is an RTS studio, it was only a matter of time before they got the boot. Forza and Turn 10 has much more longevity in this market, even if you don't realize that.

By the time they're ready to release this they're going to cancel it and move development to the PS4.  :lol

I was thinking I'd like to try a good racing sim and searched Amazon the other day for a cheap copy of this only to realize it hasn't been released yet. Oh well what's another 8-12 months waiting after it's release for the inevitable drop to $19.99.

It'll be 10 years, but it's not exactly a "plan."
