To be fair to the little critters, I'm sure that PS3 fantards want to say the same thing, re: Wii. But they can't really, or they would lose their little sliver of "victory."

To borrow an overused sports phrase, the Wii is what it is. 3.8 million is ridiculously impressive, but we know it matters little in terms of impacting software that matters to most typical gamers. So, yeah, good job, Nintendo. Now get off my lawn.

I don't see how anyone at Microsoft or Sony could be disappointed in their own numbers. On the Microsoft side, it's a system in its fifth holiday season that has seen very little in terms of price reduction over its lifetime and really nothing to speak of in the past year outside of a SKU shuffle. 1.3 million? They'll take it. And for Sony, they're finally putting that dern thing in homes at a decent clip. No, it will never track down the 360 in America overall, but I don't see why it won't continue to go neck and neck with the 360 from here on. It still has a bit of brand power to help it overcome relative library weakness. Anecdotal ahoy, but I'm reminded of the PSN giftcard I received from my brother and his wife at Christmas. Apparently, the conversation they had on their end was something like this: "Does he have a Playstation or a Nintendo? ... I don't know, I think the Playstation? ... OK, let's get him this giftcard." I have neither.

So anyway... good grades all around. That's my opinion, at least.

That would be sage wisdom and good advice if it were true that Wii sales had any real negative impact on HD-console software. From my perspective, it doesn't appear to have changed a thing. Nintendo's making money hand-over-first, to be sure, but other developers? I don't think the butter for their bread has changed all that much.

Not joking about that family gathering thing, though. Those kids were seriously bummed that their parents had decided on Wii for the generation. And it's all my fault.  :'(

I saw some Wii dudes suggesting that Ubi and the others are probably eating the words now, and I think those dudes just don't get it. Those games that they want on the Wii would be alien to the system and uninteresting to the new market. Ubi and others have seen great results on the 360 and PS3 despite the marketshare gap. The Wii isn't like the other systems.

Wii and DS for the (free) casual games you play for 5 minutes or while taking a shit, PC for the real gaming expereinces.  Best of both worlds.  Fuck the PS3 and 360 for nearly killing the industry.

Why are you people continually surprised that Nintendo is steamrolling the competition. It's been this way for FOUR YEARS. That's quite a lot of time to get adjusted to our Casual Overlords. Get with the program, chiefs.

They're surprised and angry that despite price drops, hardware revisions, and a virtually endless stream of expensive Hollywood games starring bald Marines, transexuals, and other shock/blockbuster characters, their manly-man video game consoles and manly-man games did very little in terms of catching up to the Big N.

This is great news for the industry and gamers alike, in my opinion. Of course, most of the Hollywood gamers here hate the news, claiming its the fault of grandmas or whatever, while playing off these numbers as meaningless, but who cares what they think? It seems the industry don't!

Nintendo did great but only their shit sold for Wii software.  We only have the Top 10 to go off of but the story is the same every month.  Nintendo games sell well, shitware third party titles do ok over time because the bar is set low for them, and good third party Wii titles are left behind.  Each and every month angsty Nintards scratch their heads wondering why Resident Evil 5 didn't get a Wii version.

The PS3 didn't steamroll 360, that is pretty lolworthy.  It was by 50,000 and even then, the 360 versions of games last month outsold the PS3 iterations on the top of the charts.  Hardware might be more evened out but the 360 is still trouncing the PS3 in software.  I could see things level out over time but it isn't anywhere near now and Microsoft hardly has anything to worry about.  So sry :(

I'm finding myself less and less interested in the CONSOLE WARZ because at this point, it is decided.  Not much will change except a couple months here and there where the 360 and PS3 might interchange between 2nd and 3rd for the month but other than that, it is it.  The new systems will be out probably in 2-3 years and there will be no miraculous turnaround, unless Sony collapses from all of the losses it is (still) taking from the PS3.

Pretty much everything is set now. Publishers (EA, Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft) have moved on from Nintendo to where games are sold. Better for us. Less dev time wasted on downporting and compromising titles to fit on the Wii.

Get with the program, ole chums. Nintendo is undergoing quite the renaissance and its a site to behold.

Two things you big-budget Hollywood gamers need to understand: one, the customer is always right. Two, numbers do not lie. In other words, the customers don't give enough of a shit about the HD consoles and there are numbers there to prove it.

If I were an anti-Nintendo mongrel like the rest of you crying losers, I wouldn't be bitching about these numbers as much as I'd be worried about how Nintendo's unparallel success will shape and affect next-gen.

It charted on the PC-only charts, but in all honesty, you don't need a boycott when they already made it suck. (Kinda like a Leno boycott, as if anyone was 'giving up' Leno out of disgust)
