Bought a wah pedal and a little practice amp so that I can finally plug my guitar in over here in Korea. It's a piece of shit 15 watter. It pretty much sounds like crap unless you cut the mids entirely, at which point it becomes acceptable considering the price. Tried it out with my phase shifter today, and I could get sounds close to Any Colour You Like. Threw the wah in there and it was quite trippy indeed. Need to test it out tomorrow with my distortion pedal, since that's what I'll use for leads. 

I also bought a glass slide. My slide skills are shit, but I'm gonna keep practicing until I can really get bluesy with it.

uhhh that's exactly what I did. Read it again, I said I snapped it while stretching it, "break it in" in your words, didn't snap it by bending it.

Side note: Pink Floyd solos are the best for crazy bends. The solo in Another Brick in the Wall has a 2 1/2 step bend, I think. Of course it's on the B string, but still. I thought for sure my string would break, but it didn't.

tbh I stretched it a little too much. This happens 50% of the time when I'm stretching in the high E string. That's why I'm not too keen on stretching strings in majority of the time.

also on a sidenote, my guitar is extremely poorly set up, the strings feel way too tight. Most bends kill my fingers on the higher strings after playing for a little while. It's seriously holding back my progress.

Well, the last time that I had a problem with the strings feeling way too tight, it was because my bridge was too high off the body of the guitar. I'm not an expert at fixing guitars by any means, so that might not be the problem. But there's a good chance that it is.

You could always drop back to 9s.  They're better for soft and delicate, yet manly, fingertips.  I use 9s.

I bought the Mel Brooks Collection for $56 on Amazon this morning on my way out.  At ~$6.20 a movie it's a pretty good deal.  Especially since I haven't seen about half of them.
