Traded in Borderlands(360) and MLB 10(PS3), used my buddies edge card plus my $5 reserve, and got an edge card of my own all for $23.00. :pimp

How's that a good deal?  ??

I traded 2 games I don't play for 2/3 off the price + the extra 10% from my friend's edge card added another $4.50. If I didn't get the edge card, my total was only $12 left to pay.

Quote
You should have gone to TRU instead for the $25 gift card.

I would have had to pay $65 and that wasn't feasible at this time.

I really, really want Red Dead Redemption but will probably spring for SM Galaxy 2 instead due to budget constraints.

Was searching for replacement headphones and after some research and talk with audiophiles I went with the Audio Technica m50s.  Quiet to people on the outside, great sound and reasonably comfortable though I gotta break 'em in to loosen them up.

Bebpo, have you ever tried in-ear phones?

While full-size headphones offer better sound for the buck and probably have a higher ceiling of fidelity, they also require solid amplification to reach their full potentials. Also, size is obviously a constraint to using them outside the house.

I find in-ear phones to be much more suitable for my general needs.  They are easily driven by most devices and the high quality ones not only seal off outside noise efficiently but also deliver very good sound.  If you ever decide to try them out, check out Westone.  My new Westones simply kicks the butt of even the best Shure product which I used to own.

I've tried in-ear and always found them uncomfortable like I find earplugs uncomfortable.  I just don't like sticking things in my ears :\  I prefer full-sized closed headphones because I want to block out noises around me to some degree and I don't want to bug people around me by having the sound leak outside the phones.  If I didn't care about the solitude/leakage I could've gotten better sounding headphones if I went for full-sized open headphones as apparently they are the best sound you can get.  But they're basically like wearing speakers on your head and I'm not down with that when I'm on a train or in a public building.

Not all full-sized headphones need to be amped.  That was actually a big criteria in my search for a good pair.  I wanted to get one that is low enough in power usage that you don't need an amp, which is what the M50s are.  Otherwise I would have gone with the Beyerdynamic 770/80ohm which are beautiful and supposedly sound amazing but they need to be amped to get good sound.

Well there's no real point buying it for that reason if the online is borked.

Which Westones? Been dying to try some of those. I love both the in-ear and full-sized 'phone experience :)

I got this the other day, in preparation for the Coming of the iPad (wifi, 32GB, preordered, and about 10 days away!). Pocket Wifi, plus a 2yr sub. I decided against the 3G iPad 'cause why pay for yet another data plan? With this, we can also use our notebooks, as well as my iPhone, DS, PSP etc anywhere in Japan (in theory). It supports multiple devices at once as well, which is important as my wife has an online business and needs to be connected all the time. In fact, it's fast enough that I could even ditch my home broadband (where it not $10/mo for 100mb/s :lol). I'm beginning to wonder if we even need a landline and cell phone plan anymore.

I've had several of these, and only one left. They're fragile as hell, but it's exacerbated by using a dishwashing machine. I think the high/low heat change messes with the partial vacuum.

You should try Bonmac filters if you use a Chemex. Less paper means better coffee taste without any extra hassle.  I use them in a Hario V60 drip cone filter for the best tasting coffee outside of French Press which is an extra hassle.

I want to play the second series, but I only have part 3 I found at KMart for $10

I'm a semi-fan of dothack.  :-[

dothack is actually one of the most beutiful concepts ever. shame it was handled the way it was. if it would have shipped as one game by a more competant dev, it would have been a classic.

a faux mmo with a story connecting toons and their RL counterparts, BBS's and email/im's, fantastic music...arg, it's almost making me wanna give it another go. it would be so fantastic to get a remake/condensed rev of this game on PSP or the new round of handhelds.

it's really hard to give it a blanket reccomendation though, as it was archaic when it shipped. it is clever, ambitious, and also a total scam.  :lol

very love it or hate it game.

You'd be surprised at how many people enjoyed the first .hack game series.  I know many forum goers (myself included) & even credible game journalists who were fans.  The story was interesting in that mysterious way, the worldview of an MMORPG gone wrong was fascinating, the music was quite good and the gameplay was addicting and fun.  Art wasn't bad either.  It had problems and the gameplay was repetitive, but it was a cool experience to go through.  The whole multimedia storytelling idea of games+ovas+anime to tell one big story was fairly cool and almost a precursor to the ARGs and this type of game/anime/manga pairing you get these days.

The 2nd series was very nice graphically, and it wasn't a huge step down from the original, but it was basically the same sort of thing as series one but without the fresh "this hasn't been done before" feeling and so it feels a lot weaker.  The plot also wasn't as good, although it wasn't terrible either.

I played through both and enjoyed both, though I wouldn't recommend either to most people since I don't think they hold up (they were C-gameplay to begin with 5-8 years ago, I shudder to think how they hold up now) and the whole multi-game format means you have to put it the effort to get anything out of it.

I'd love for CyberConnect2 to give it another run on PS3/X360 hardware instead of NARUTO/NARUTO/NARUTO
But I don't think Namco feels there is enough money potential to give budget for a full length new .hack franchise.

My only problem with it honestly was the dates were weird. It's set in 1891, which is the start of the Great Haitus, yet Watson isn't married yet (that was 1887). But setting the movies during the Great Haitus is awesome since it does free them up a lot. It's be cool to do one movie for each year of the Haitus and have the fourth movie be based on the Final Problem.

the .hack games (universe in general; I liked the Sign anime) were awesome.  I was big into that stuff.  My desktop theme matched the altimit one from the game.

I never played the GU series or got into that anime.  Kinda reminded me of Pokemon or Digimon or something where I kinda lost track of things as they expanded past the original.  Was Balmung even in the GU games? Balmung :bow2

I don't think so.  IIRC there weren't any recurring characters, GU was all original cast.  If you liked the original I'd say GU might be worth a shot, but it's just as repetitive as the first one and the combat is better or worse depending on who you ask.

As for me, I picked up these, both on sale:

Bionic Commando was ten bucks brand-new and people here say the single-player is actually good.  I only played the very chaotic multiplayer demo, so I'm going to take you bros' word for it.

Dragon Age Awakenings was the asian version which doesn't play on US consoles so it was discounted fairly heavily.  Sometimes owning a Japanese 360 has its advantages, I guess!
