Bebpo, have you ever tried in-ear phones?
While full-size headphones offer better sound for the buck and probably have a higher ceiling of fidelity, they also require solid amplification to reach their full potentials. Also, size is obviously a constraint to using them outside the house.
I find in-ear phones to be much more suitable for my general needs. They are easily driven by most devices and the high quality ones not only seal off outside noise efficiently but also deliver very good sound. If you ever decide to try them out, check out Westone. My new Westones simply kicks the butt of even the best Shure product which I used to own.
Which Westones? Been dying to try some of those. I love both the in-ear and full-sized 'phone experience
Oops, didn't see your question until today but I'll answer it now.
The Westone 3 Limited Edition. LE supposedly has lower tolerance than the regular 3s because the parts are hand-picked. However, it's probably quite hard to hear the difference in real world situations. So unless you really want the special T-shirt, paper weight and an unique serial # etched into the phones, you might not want to spend that extra $150.
The main advantage that the Westone 3 has over the Shure E530s is that the soundstage is much larger and cohesive. With the 530s, sound always seems to be split from one side to the other. Other than that, they're quite similar as both are quite close to being neutral and are very easy to drive. I really like how I hardly have to go above 50% volume on portable devices with both pairs because that allows me to go much longer without charging.
You might also want to check out the Westone um3x. Some actually prefer it the Westone 3 because it's supposedly more clinical and accurate.
