Picked up a pretty standard copy of Lost Odyssey yesterday for $20 at Gamestop.

Only KH2 is Greatest Hits gonna replace that sometime soon, I know of a local game store that has like 4 copies of black-band KH2. I also have around 10 games that aren't complete for PS2 sitting in a disc carrier.

And it's easier to just get everything on PS2 so I don't need to own more than one last-gen console. All these games look fantastic on my CRT anyways, Xbox's added AA doesn't really show up. My 360 collection is a lot nicer since I'm still actively building it, but it'd be hard to photo since it's on a rotating disc shelf thingy.

Sony X-series 32gb Walkman



It's been out of stock everywhere but I found one yesterday at Fry's.  I couldn't resist getting one because there's speculation that Sony might never release such a high end portable media player in the US again.  It's a nice piece of hardware, easily the best Sony product that I've bought in the last decade. 

The sound quality is very nice and the battery life is awesome.  Only quibbles are that FLAC is not supported and the screen is smaller and less crisp than the Zune HD. 

On a related note, a shout out to "Mr Walkman" who passed away recently.   At least he didn't have to endure the collapse of his beloved company.

Aren't Ipads still much slower than top mobile processors?  That's what I based my comparison on. 

The current iPad 2 benchmarks smoke Tegra 2s, which is more comparable than laptop class processors.

The PSP2 will be using a similar graphics.  The same type of chip, if I recall correctly.

Perhaps you could try playing an ADV that does more than just present text? There's a lot of ADVs out there that combine other genres/interactions to mix things up a bit. Or even animated ones like School Days (though you tried that before, haven't you?). Not sure if Umineko will do the trick for you, unless the story completely engrosses you from the get go, because outside of that it's pretty standard.

It's the same size as the HP Mini 311 Netbook I was using previously, but with double the power.  I don't need a lot from a PC and am very much a casual user, but I did want something that could handle multitasking better and play 1080P video, and this works for that. 

They're not even marketing it as a netbook anymore.  It's been getting really good reviews and is priced pretty low...cost me about $500 with tax/shipping.

I'm hoping that Dragon Age will run well enough on it (it was too choppy on the Mini 311), but I have spent the last few nights getting the game downloaded and running.     I keep getting errors with the Ultimate Edition content, and trying to patch it made the game unplayable, so I had to redownload it from the EA server again.

Yeah, mine shipped the day before the quake.  Figured it was probably lost in the mail so I was surprised when it showed up.  I even used the cheaper SAL shipping and it took less than a week WITH the earthquake.

Well, what I played of Higurashi kept me more awake than any other visual novel to date thanks to good writing full of tensity, mystery, and creepy atmosphere.  So if Umineko is like Higurashi I might get through it.  I really enjoy horror mysteries.  The HD art should help though.
