What are your favorite 3D vision games?  Arkham City is the only game so far that I've really played in 3D.  The Mad Hatter side mission was really cool in 3D.

Can you get youtube 3d working?  I can't seem to get the driver to recognize it. 

I think it adds the most to big world, immersive games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 even if their technical implementation isn't the best. Arkham is 3D Vision Ready so a great showcase, AA is great too. It's amazing how much it can add to older games that you'd think would be too fugly to play now - I had a great time with the original Thief (plus high res textures and widescreen of course). Dragon Age is actually pretty sweet too, amazingly. Even StarCraft II and Diablo 3 gain a lot. Of course the real lookers like Battlefield 3 only look better, but at a FPS hit maybe.

The Nvidia forums has a 3D vision section where people post recommended games all the time, and tips and tricks to get stuff working and tweaked right. Unfortunately you have to put some time in to most games. There are plenty of games like Mass Effect 2/3 that are listed as unsupported but can be brought up to snuff without much work, and are greatly improved by it. YMMV but I play almost everything in 3D now.

You can also have fun with 3D movie rips played in the NVidia app...the only one i bothered with was Avatar. Best watched on a tv of course.

Where's that 3D movie app?  Does it work as well as a native 3D Blu-ray?

It may have been part of the driver bundle. It works perfectly although obviously depends on the bitrate of the rip. And there are a bunch of different ways to encode 3D rips so it was a pain to configure.

it may already be on your system though - AFAIK all the 3D Vision software is bundled with the gtx drivers now

That app is definitely not in my system.  The release was in February 2012 which was before the 680 GTX was available.  I wonder if Nvidia just chose to discontinue it because it's not in the new drivers.

who owns an espresso machine, i want to upgrade to something in the prosumer range. Going back and forth between Gaggia Classic and a Rancilio Silvia, but there are so many awesome-looking machines that get much less press than those two heavyweights. Currently I have a Starbucks Barista, which is an overpriced entry-level machine (and a Gaggia MDF grinder)

Tell me about that grinder. Do you recommend it?

It is very nice although can get a bit messy. I had a Japanese blade grinder before that was actually very solid, but everyone says burr grinders are the only way to go for consistent results so I took the plunge. The Gaggia was actually way cheaper than the one I had before (a Kalita).

I've only had it for a week but it seems a solid upgrade, and can grind way finer than I need it too - fine enough for Turkish coffee, which would choke any espresso machine. My old one could not, and had far fewer increments.

Burr grinders are the way to go.  I've had a GE burr grinder for the last 4-5 years and I wouldn't part with it for the world.  Granted, it doesn't grind as fine as yours (I'm jelly that you can make your own Turkish), but it was cheap and it does the job.

As far as an espresso machine, I've got one that I'm not proud of in any way.  It was a wedding gift from years ago and I used it a few times before I realized it was junk.  When I want espresso I just go to Starbucks.  I will be interested to know what you get and how well you like it though.

As for me, I want to try some different brewing methods and see how they make the coffee taste.  Has anyone here ever tried or owned a mocha pot, a vacuum pot, or a Chemex before?

Don't give a crap about steamers/frothers. Semi-automatic - yes but prepared to deal with more hassle for awesome espresso. Automatics are probably way out of my price range, and I can't get into stuff like re-plumbing the whole kitchen for the water supply.

I had a Hario vacuum pot for a while, 'til it got smashed. It's fun but a lot of grief. I use Hario stuff for pourover coffee though (I have a Hario Mini Mill and V60 brewer, both great).

The machine I have can actually do shots just as good as I usually get at Starbucks. But I want the kind of shots I would get from a sweaty hairy Italian man with his shirt slashed open to his midriff

I have a Gaggia Platinum (this one: http://www.amazon.com/Gaggia-90901-Platinum-Automatic-Espresso/dp/B001G8Y1QO/ref=sr_1_34?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1355806300&sr=1-34) and I've had a Gaggia Evolution before that (plumbing problems in 3 months of regular use). Personally I think it all comes down to the grind and the temperature. Experiment with how you grind and look for a really hot machine. If you continue to grind it a certain way your only going to get that same taste. That's why Starbucks tastes like Starbucks, and why Peets tastes like Peets.

I think your going the right route with the Gaggia's cause if it breaks down and have a Starbucks in your area you have a service person near by.

Servicing is likely going to be a problem whatever I get 'cause I will be importing (vs paying triple price in Japan - a Silvia would be $1,700 here). I am leaning towards that - at least its foibles are well-chronicled so I can work around them if it is a problem.

The best one I've tried myself is this, which a friend owns. God Tier espresso and amazing-looking IMHO

Went out for lunch yesterday and bought a 64GB ipad 4 for no reason other than it was there.  I guess it was time to upgrade since I just have an ipad 2 but all I'm really using it for anymore is the internet and that was more than fine.  The new one is a hell of a lot faster though and difference between my old ipad and the new one with the lightning cable when I was updating and transfering files was pretty eye opening.  It's like going from dial-up to broadband.

So, i'm probably gonna go for the Gaggia Classic espresso machine. It's going to be way the hell cheaper to import - Amazon ships it globally relatively cheaply, and the high yen makes it a steal. It's also nice and small and suits my limited needs - espresso only for me only, pretty much. Don't need to be pulling 20 shots in a row for dinner parties any time soon. It seems like you can do some pretty awesome shots with practice, good beans and good grind.

Yes I'm in CA, I go through a broker out of NV and one out of AZ. It's not as hard as it used to be here in CA. My dad does a lot of traveling through those area's so it's usually a waiting game. Last gun I bought took almost 7 months to get.
