Mega Man Zero Collection, coming to a DS near you
« on: January 15, 2010, 07:02:18 PM »
Capcom has it up on their Japanese website.

Anyone who hasn't played these games on the GBA are in for a real treat, as this MM spinoff is considered the best of the MM series since the originals for the NES. IMO, it's better than X series as well, but it's debatable.

Anyway, this makes the DS, once again, the portable to own this year. This is a day 1 fucking buy. I thought the DUAL SCREEN aka the DEVELOPER'S SYSTEM was going to give the PSP some breathing room or at least give it some small window to stage some sort of comeback, but then Capcom announces this? RIP 2010.

If you love action games with mild rpg elements, this is the collection to get.

Why is it you bring your pirate rhetoric bullshit into every single upcoming release thread? No one wants to hear that BS, honestly, and you're supposed to set a better example. Why would a serious developer/programmer (not that M3w whoreson that regularly posts here) come to this place when they see bitch-made asshole pirates like you talking about stealing shit? Fuck outta my thread, man.

the zero games

1) are already playable on most ds's, except the shitty overpriced ones
2) came out just the other day
3) have tried to refine the megaman formula by unnecessarily making it more complicated, and as such have actually made it worse, except maybe for the first game.
3.1) useless cyber elves, crap ranking system, repeated weapon animations, useless additional weapons, useless gimmicks - weather, stealing crap enemy weapons, cooking armor, cyber world etc etc

it's definitely a sign of something wrong with the ds library if this gets people excited

that's "just the other day" in the prole age base

besides, it took them like a 204093 years to make the other collections. and there have been way too many ports/remakes lately. maybe they should just stop being cheap and work on something new, instead of porting games that are playable as is

it's bad enough when they take an old game, make it 3d and give it a new number. outright porting them like this is pushing it tbqh

I love the Zero games, but they're best played on an SP. It has the best shoulder buttons.

Also, the best X game is 4. Hands down.

Also, Knights in the Nightmare is getting a PSP port with new anime scenes and enhanced graphics.  Seems the PSP gets the superior version while the DS just gets four games you could play on it if you owned them on GBA anyway.

So basically,

I should get this if I dont want to pay obscene money for copies, missed out on them originally, and would rather opt to have all in one package. Thanks for the info.

Erm, you can change the button layout in every Zero game to have the secondary weapon use a separate button rather than "hold R/press B".
woops, should have told me years ago. not a big loss anyway, i used the sword all the way except for mmz1 final boss (2nd form), used the gun because he was a real pain.

I've tried playing MMZ2-4 on my ds and...well, it's not nearly as good as gba or even a standard joypad for emulator play.

yeah, I'm passing on this.  I really liked Zero 2 and all the games were fun, but this DS collection doesn't add anything.  The game is still letterboxed as if you were playing a GBA game on the DS, even though that's what it is.  Bottom screen is for just art of Zero or the Boss; no map or quick item select.
