Maybe they will at least drop the price of the 58XX series $100 or so.  A 5850 for ~200 would be drool worthy.

That's my hope, but I have a feeling these are going to be priced way too high.

That is really all we need.  I think that the next ATI card will probably "rape it"(aka by 1% or something similar) when it gets released the same time as this chip.

I'm happy that Nvidia isn't fucked like people have been saying.  Nothing against ATI and my next computer config could be all about ATI, but I've been using Nvidia for 10 years now and change is overrated.  But yeah, ATI will probably come out with something close to when I'm ready to upgrade that will probably be a lot better.  I still wish I held off on buying the GTX 275 for a month or two to get one of the ATI cards.  At least whenever I upgrade there will be more DX11 games.

Yeah, I've been Nvidia forever but switched to ATI for the 5000 Radeon HD series. It's been pretty easy but I still feel weird using an ATI card. Nvidia is increasingly uninterested in the enthusiast market though so it could be time for the pendulum to swing back ATI for a few years.

Yes, Nvidia and Intel are truly two brands that nothing will come between

i want to see it in action with a DX11 game/game situation... NOT fucking FAR CRY 2.

Yeah that was... unexpected :lol

I just had lunch with my buddy from NVidia and asked him what was up with that. He said the idea was to show that although textures were complex, geometry is still simple. The new card will allow tesselation on the card though, so artists can make relatively simple assets but tell the card to render them with much greater complexity. i.e. plot two coordinates, A and B, and tell the card to draw a curved line between them, rather than actually drawing the curved line yourself.

Only in 3D, of course.

If you look at the page from Hard OCP, you'll see that it's actually using Far Cry 2 as an example of how simple the geometry still is, even in a supposedly advanced title. They're not bragging about how amazing their card makes FC2 look.

Average frame-rate increases to 99.79fps with the dual-GPU card, beating out Fermi handily. Maximum frame-rate is 133.52fps and minimum is 76.42fps. It's hard to beat the sheer grunt of AMD's finest, clearly.

Further, changing the speed of the supporting CPU does little to influence performance here.

So its not as powerful as the dual GPU card.  But it is the fastest as the single GPU card on the market.

Does anyone know how much power this card uses, Nvidia fermi that is?
