FYI, P4 is better than P3 FES in every conceivable way, besides maybe the story. P4 was too predictable for me.

P3P looks cool, but I don't like the downgrades they made for the PSP. Still getting it though.

But P3P improves the gameplay of P3 to be on par with P4.  Plus P3 has a better story.  So P3P should be win/win?

I preferred P3 to P4.  I liked being able to grind in dungeons for as long as I wanted, whereas in P4 your characters didn't regain their health when the went back to the dungeon entrance so you really were limited in what you could do in each visit to the dungeon.

I prefer P3 to P4 because of the story/cast.  That said, P4 had a really good cast and a decent story too.

Gameplay-wise...I feel they're all the same game and I assume P5 will be the same game again.  At least it's a fun addicting game!

P3 has Ken. That alone puts the P4 cast far above the P3 one.

I like the Brosuke, Chie and Yukiko combo better. Junpei and Yukari are cool though, as are Mitsuru and Akihiko. But as a whole, I think the P4 cast is much better all around.

i liked both p3 and p4 but this port is lame as fuck

i just hope they don't waste resources adding a female character to p5. no one replays these 100 hour jrpgs for 3-4 scenes, and i'm damn well not replaying it to play as a chick and date dudes. plus, they'd probably gimp the main character path to make the alternative character not as worthless

one good, well done path > multiple halfassed paths

it's just the other party characters s.links, which were unnecessary to p3 imo. i think there's some other different ones but the game felt complete to me anyway, so i see them as irrelevant.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
the character that can be saved just goes to the hospital and stays there till the ending. no change besides one cutscene or so
[close]

we'll see how it goes in p5.

also ichirou, the answer was just dungeon crawling without the story/s.links and it was shit. the dungeons were actually better than in the original game too. if you didn't like the answer, well, there goes that. it sucked so bad they didn't even include it in the port.

There was no persona encyclopedia or whatever it was called, that's what made The Answer suck, not the dungeon crawling.

And the reason it's not in P3P is because it wouldn't fit.  They cut a ton of shit out of P3P.

Having just realised I made a major calculation error, it seems I will not be able to max all my Communities.
How the hell are you supposed to max them all anyway? I don't recall wasting that many days.

Multiple playthroughs.  The persona you unlock from maxing them stay unlocked in new game+

With P3/P4 you just have to figure you will only max maybe 1/2 of them so it forces you to choose which stories you want to see through.

looking up faqs for the schedule takes away a lot of the fun. just play it without worrying about maxing everything

It'd be great if you could finish the game as a guy first, then for your second playthrough play as a girl and have all the personas you unlocked in the first playthrough remain unlocked and your academic, courage, and charm stats remain maxed.

Do you know if that's possible in P3P?

Fucking :lol I regularly get 20k+ exp from these fights. I'm level 83 already!
Thing is, there doesn't appear to be anyway to start from the highest floor you have reached, so you have to go from 1F each time? How the hell are you expected to get to 10F like that, let alone have enough HP/SP left to beat the boss.

Bonus dungeon?  Yeah it's meant to bridge the level gap between 60s and 90s so you can make the ultimate persona.  To reach the boss I just skipped all the fights, but I got destroyed and never tried it again ^^;

IIRC the "Boss" of Monad only shows up if you accept the challenge from Elizabeth. Yeah the place is nuts for xp but if you're doing serious Fusion stuff you need it to unlock your persona's highest talents to migrate them. Maxing social links helps a lot for the initial fusion but getting those last talents on upper level Persona by leveling in Tartarus main would be...tedious to say the least

@_@

The ending for P3 is perfect, I agree.
But if you want an explanation for what exactly happened in the ending and closure to that, For Answer gives it and the final final ending of all P3 story is great as well.

I enjoyed For Answer a lot.  But then I played it a year after P3, so it didn't feel so much like the same old grind.  I can see how if you play it right after P3 it would be not so fun.

Nah, that's not the problem I had with it. I thought the dungeons and bosses in The Answer were really fun to play, and even Metis was a nice addition. I just hated every single thing they did with the story and characters in that portion of the game -- I much preferred the open ending of P3. I'd be happier if The Answer was just a level pack or something with no additional story.

The story itself is a mixed bag.  The flashback stuff is good and fleshes out the cast more, the actual plot during for answer is kinda lol, but the ending of for answer and explanation of P3's ending was good I thought.

Holy shit. Best boss music EVER. Scratch that, BEST FINAL BOSS EVER!!

Yeah it's pretty spectacular. I really enjoyed how he would give a little dissertation on each Arcana as he changed into that aspect. The first time I beat him I kinda freaked out a bit because he had wiped me a couple times prior to that (I was under-leveled and had only one really good Persona: Scatath with that mega-ice attack) and almost immediately after that fight I was up against Nyx who was doing insane damage to MC. As it turns out I didn't really have to worry but until I KO'd her I was pretty stressed.
I agree that the ending was fantastic but I'll disagree that The Answer somehow ruins that. I really enjoyed the character insights it provided and came to like Aegis by the end of it which surprised me as I didn't much care for her in The Journey. Also the little black and white animation of the genesis of Metis during one of Aegis' flashbacks is borderline "good art". Pretty poignant I thought
