interesting people on xbox live
« on: January 22, 2010, 09:05:29 AM »
I just thought it would be funny to list some interesting folk you've talked to (excluding racist/redneck stories)

I just got done talking to some kid from Australia.  We were trying to get an Army of Two 40th day co-op game setup and it kept freezing and he invited me to a chat and told me his net was broken and then we talked for like 10 mins about stuff

His voice was high but his Austrawwwlian accent made it adorable. He was just rambling on about random stuff.

XBL is amazing...i feel like i'm part of a community again instead of feeling isolated like on PSN.  Everything is so well-integrated.  Game invite system, party-chat, messaging, everything is so smooth and glorious.  There's so many little things I could mention that make it great.  XBL is a monster of a killer app...it's twenty Uncharted 2s combined.  Can't believe i missed out on the last 2 years of superior gaming and online services

CHOW CHOW is clearly blinded by the pure joy that Xbox Live has provided him. He's just moved out of the gaming ghetto so he needs some time to adjust. It's hard to take in all that quality multiplayer gaming in one go and not be affected.

honestly, i have a big chow grin on my face every time i turn on my 360.  It feels nice to have a real gaming console with a real online service.  Even the 360 exclusives this year are gonna be better than PS3's

met 3 highschool kids from new york in mw2, they were randomly sending party invites to everyone, one of them sells his adderall off for money and i told him how good it feels man, he never even bothered to try it, we played about 10 games together, and one of them friend requested me so he could keep tabs on me, evidently i am "chill" by highschool standards

I think it's too early to call it. I have a feeling both MAG and Modnation Racers are going to disappoint based on my experience with the Betas, but other than those 2 the Ps3s exclusive list is looking very strong for 2010.

I'm not sure about that.  God of War III is gonna be amazing, but it's just a 10-hour rental type of game.

There's no Naughty Dog game this year, FF13 is also coming out on the 360, MAG is undeniably awful (was in beta), Heavy Rain is a game played via QTEs (nuff said), etc.  Maybe if you're hardcore into racing sims (GT5), I could see an argument about the PS3's exclusive line-up, but other than that I dunno?  All I'm looking forward to is The Last Guardian and renting GoW3.  I'll probably polish whatever turd Insomniac shits out in the Fall as well (Resistance 3).

Now look at the 360....Mass Effect 2 is gonna be one of the best games of the entire gen (and it's gonna be a long gen, so that's a big deal).  Then you got AAA monsters like Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo (4) Reach, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, and Fable 3 in the Fall.

But I thought you said exclusives? I've already pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 on PC, and depending on the reviews (and system requirements) , I will do the same for Splinter Cell. I would have done the same for Alan Wake if it were still coming to PC + didn't remind me of the godawful Alone In The Dark game which I had the unfortunate chance of playing.

MAG IMO isn't undeniably awful, it's just a very by-the-numbers type of game. It's the type of shooter that could have made a big splash in 2008, but who knows crazier things have happened.

As for Resistance 3 and Halo 4: I honestly don't care enough to buy either, Modern Warfare is my preferred shooter. And I wouldn't call Resistance 3 a turd, I mean considering Resistance 2 holds a much higher metacritic score than the last Halo game then that would also make Halo a . . . well, let's get back on topic.

As for Fable 3, since it's going to be using Project Natal I have 0 interest in it. That's not me ignorantly dismissing the game, I just really can not bring myself to care about using hand gestures to play an RPG.

Anyways like I said; it's too early to call it. We don't know whether or not Epic will release GeOW 3 this year, we have no clue how FromSoftwares 3D Dot game will be received, there might be a new Zelda game from Nintendo, there might be a killer app for Project Natal, and hey if Sony gets their shit together there might even be a killer app for their Wand. Only time will tell  :)

Oh come on...don't drop the "superior PC version" thing.  ME2 and SC Conviction are console-exclusive and that's all that matters to 90% of gamers out there.  The vast majority of sales for these games will be on consoles.

Anyway, Resistance 2 might have a high metacritic score but it had some of the biggest backlash I've ever seen for a game (rivaling GTA4).  Pretty much everyone thinks it's a huge disappointment and actually worse than the first.

MAG is just awful, bro.  I made a post in the MAG thread and don't feel like typing it out again.

And yeah, I forgot about Gears 3...another monster AAA exclusive for the Xgod 360.

Where did I claim the PC versions of those games are superior  :lol ? Sorry man, the whole "console exclusive" argument is just a very ignorant cop-out. Those games are not exclusive to a single gaming platform, period. You won't hear anyone with a Ps3 claiming The Agency and FF14 are exclusive to the Ps3, and if you do, then they're just as ignorant.

And please don't bring the very tired sales argument, the logic in that is completely flawed.

Oh I'm not claiming R2 is a great game (like I said, Modern Warfare is more my speed!) what I'm saying is if you consider it a turd, then the same can be said for Halo: ODST considering R2 holds a higher overall score than Halo: ODST . . . right ? I recall quite a significant backlash for ODST as well, something along the lines of "it should've just been DLC".

Like I said, MAG is very by-the-numbers. It's nowhere near the awfulness of FPS games such as Hour of Victory, but at the same time the only thing that stands out from the title is the amount of players supported.

Finally, of course GeOW 3 is a big exclusive! Only a fool would deny that. It won't be a day 1 purchase for me (the absolutely horrendous Multiplayer in GeOW2 completely soured the competitive aspect of the franchise), but I can see myself buying it for the single-player sometime down the line.

One last time; It's too early to call it  :)

Every time I get on XBL there's one guy in any lobby who needs to sing to the group, and possibly to the team he ends up on. There needs to be a slightly easier shortcut for "Shut This Bastard Up."

If im chatting to friends on live or in the room with me when im playing, alot of people will try to get a rise out of me by calling me a redneck/hillbillie/etc.

I just mute them and keep going.
