Classic Pro controller to be bundled with Monster Hunter TRI

Today Capcom and Nintendo announced that the Classic Controller Pro, the redesigned version of the current Classic Controller, will be bundled in North America with Monster Hunter Tri. The controller was previously only available in Japan and Europe. The game is set to launch in America sometime after April 1, 2010 but no firm launch date has been announced.

The Classic Controller Pro bundled with Monster Hunter Tri will be black, however both black and white versions will be available at retail separate from the bundle at a suggested retail price of $19.99. The Monster Hunter Tri bundle will be available for $59.99, and without the controller for $49.99.

Sounds like a great deal, IMO. Looks like Nintendo and Capcom will pull all stops to get this bad boy moving in the West. The controller idea was an excellent move on the part of Nintendo to lure hardcore gamers to this franchise. For the possible exception of ExciteBots, in all instances that a Wii controller is attached to a hot new game in America, the results are WIN.

I predict this game to sell 750k in the United States alone. Far better than the game could do on a Sony or Microsoft platform, as historic sales data of previous MH games sold here in the States reveal a lukewarm reception at best.

The classic controller pro is great.  Best controller Nintendo has made since the SNES one.  They still managed to fuck it up by excluding rumble, requiring it to be plugged into the Wii remote, and removing analog shoulder buttons, which is confusing since Wii games that support the classic controller use the Gamecube/original CC shoulder buttons as two buttons (half press and full press).

They do sell grips you can get for the classic controller to add that same Dual Shock-like shape to it pretty cheap, but the CCP is obviously still better since they finally put the two Z buttons in an actually-accessable place and moved the cord from the bottom of the controller to the top where it should have been in the first place.
