How do you go about re-applying at a job you passed up?

I've been working at my current job for almost two years now. Before I applied here, I applied at some post production facility. Turns out the manager there offered me the position after I already got the other job, so I had to reject the offer. Reason being, I thought there was more opportunity to move up in game development (LOL). Sadly, after years of tightening up graphics, I thought it was time to move on. So I wanted to call up the other place again. But I don't wanna be all like 'so...you guys still hiring  ?' What is the proper protocol in such a situation?

Be honest, tell him how you want to try something different and you think the job they had would be great.

I think a lot of that comes down to how you rejected the first job.  I mean, were you like "lol got bettar job, FU" or were you respectable about it?  If the first, I think you're pretty sunk.  If the second, you probably have a better chance.  Just say things really did not work out with the other job, and that you would like to inquire about the job that you unfortunately were unable to accept, to see if there is anything similar that you could possibly apply for.  Make sure that you make it known that you don't think you're just gonna get the job.  Make them realize that you regret passing it up, and that you would like to go through the application process again.  They like that shit.
