I would say who cares it's a terrible game, but at least the DLC was better than the offensively bad main game.

After the much more polished open world engines of AssCreed2 and Red Faction Guerilla, the GTA4 engine feels dated and archaic in comparison.

I respectfully disagree. The GTA IV engine is doing something right; it looks good, I was just thinking about how it has a very unique feel to it. I'm not fond of everything about GTA IV, but I do like the look as an evolution of what they did in GTA3. It's also unfair to compare Red Faction's mostly organic terrain with some breakable objects (well, ALL breakable) to the more heavily populated and inorganic GTA IV world.

Didn't MS pay $50 million for them or something? ???

Not only that, but Rockstar are now working on a Ps3 exclusive.

Bioshock, Braid, Ninja Gaiden 1 and Ninja Gaiden 2, Star Ocean 4, Fallout 3 DLC, Tales of Vesperia, GTA episodes, Castle Crashers, etc etc. Is it just me or is Microsoft losing a lot of exclusives?

They have and they don't care. Only message board types do.

System is selling fine. This gen was decided a long time.

Every time there is mention about GTA4 I get more skeptical of Red Dead Redemption, no matter how awesome the trailers are.  I see the guy aiming in the video and think back to the nightmare lag and general slowness of GTA4.

As for these episodes, whatever, good for those who don't have a 360 but also like GTA4 enough to play more.

Rockstar Bondi have been working on that for years and the script has been redone multiple times.

Are they really, though? Leeds made an excellent game that didn't sell well. North made a good game that was overhyped and sold stupid-well. San Diego has made some good games on a reasonable timeline, and other games which didn't. Red Dead Revolver was originally a really misguided game from Capcom before Rockstar swooped in and got something shippable (and fun). Didn't San Diego also do the Midnight Club stuff?

Bondi? What have they made previously? Is this that Noir game?

I'm saying very recently, and internally. Every current project going on has been through multiple rewrites, etc.

Does anyone really give a shit? I never understood the fervor for these expansion packs from both sides of the fence.

Console fanboy dick-wagging? Who actually cares about playing games anymore?

From a console manufacturer corporate perspective, it's just a matter of doing some pricing estimates about how DLC availability will influence the purchase of the main game for your own console. For the players who rail for/against it, it's a matter of which platform they own: the one for which content is produced, or the one for which it was denied (even temporarily).

Rockstar was given a US$50M loan to experiment with very high end content, adding new locations, cars, weapons, online modes, gameplay revisions, and substantial missions with lots of animation and voice acting. I think if they were left to do DLC without that financial encouragement, they would have been much more conservative. As it is, they produced Gay Tony, which for me was more fun than the original game.

It's worse than Square's betrayal of Sony by putting FFXIII on the Xbox 360. I don't know how much you know about American culture (I'm an expert) but honor and shame are a huge part of it. It's not like the Japan where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in the America, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
